Why do we keep hearing cases like this? We are constantly told that this never happens and that black folks are just anti-police. Here is a guy who started out as patrolman and went all the way to Captain and retirement. The reason these types of crimes happen is because we are taught to believe anything the police tells us and that folks on the street can't be believed.
That, and many people back then would not have believed that a white man would make forceful sexual advances on a black woman. But there are some mentally questionable men out there.
What penalty is the cop facing? Therein may lie the answer as to why this happens. IMO the cop who can be proven to have convicted someone knowingly and maliciously should have to serve the same sentence, but that would be cruel and unusual.
Because humans have capacity for evil. Because time marches on. Because the rare incident of a bad cop makes for better news than the rapid frequency of criminal behavior by contrast.
No way would it be cruel and unusual punishment,I would like the police concerned to serve twice the time served.
