Right. Even if they use explosives...no guarantees.

    No

    Dont be silly

What I mean is that the greater threat to south korea is from the north korean artillery not land mines

No. They would shoot at them with MGs though. I know we are talking about NK here, but unless you are talking about troops in the open, e.g. an infantry squad, then artillery is not allowed.

The goal of north korea since 1946 is a unified communist korea

Moon however is a moderate liberal who may not mind conceding power to north korea

Moon is not a dictator and the people of SK might have something to say about that.

Even if they do remove land mines and guard shacks soldiers on both sides of the border will still be patrolling. But it will be easier for defectors to spot patrols than land mines making their decision to defect across the North and South border easier. Many defect into China only to be caught by the Chinese and sent back to NK.

The SK's are not going to allow NK to force their ways on them. And neither will the US.

Land mines, in NK's situation, is intended to keep people in or out. Artillery is designed to only prevent the enemy from coming in.

That question is none of your business

The fact stands that south korea is politically divided and moon is in the mushy liberal camp

None of my business?! And I guess knowing whether or not you have the qualifications to be an expert on SK's political environment is none of my business as well?

Did our last President get the Korea's to agree to such a first step? The President before him, maybe?

What is happening in Korea is a good thing. But there is a long way to go before anyone can claim a successful mission.

Yes, it's a good thing our President has done. Something none before him have ever done.

But let's face it. He could personally go to North Korea, have them sign a full peace agreement, watch as they remove the entire DMZ, and the left would still bitch about it.

Except you have an infinite timeline, aren’t doing it under fire, and have specialized mine clearing equipment.

No, I have noticed that he is a mature and pragmatic politician who is playing to Trump's massive ego.
