Upon further review it is not the Bushmaster make of rifle specifically, but rather the AR-15 rifle in general.

    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/broward/article202486304.html

Nikolas Cruz’s semiautomatic rifle may have jammed during the massacre at a high school in Parkland earlier this month, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.

Cruz then dropped the AR-15 and fled with other students, CBS4 reporter Jim DeFede tweeted Tuesday afternoon, citing three sources familiar with the investigation. Cruz still had 150 rounds of ammunition — meaning many more people could have died had he been able to keep firing.

A source not authorized to speak on the record confirmed to the Herald that Cruz struggled with his gun during the onslaught, either due to the weapon jamming or because he fumbled trying to reload it.

Several state legislators who visited the school with crime-scene investigators said they learned from police that Cruz’s rifle was not top-of-the-line, perhaps explaining the malfunction.

The “weapon and bullets were not high quality and were breaking apart,” one of the legislators, state Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, told the Herald.

Cruz went in with only 10-round magazines because larger clips would not fit in his duffel bag, Book said.

    https://www.cnn.com/2012/07/22/us/colorado-shooting-investigation/index.html

The semi-automatic rifle used in the Colorado theater killings jammed during the rampage, apparently because of a problem with the 100-shot magazine feeding it, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the investigation said Sunday.
The military-style AR-15 had a separately purchased drum magazine, which can have trouble feeding bullets into the firing chamber if the gun is fired rapidly, the source told CNN.

There is also the Pulse nightclub shooting committed by Omar Mateen, who suffered a rifle jam so serious he stopped his actions to look up a tutorial on his phone on how to clear it, which involved partially disassembling his rifle.

No it's one rule for you and another different rule for those you disagree with.

Again as you require from me where are your facts to back your claim?

If you cannot provide that then button up and don't ever require the same from me.

More likely, these malfunctions are a result of user error, inexperience, lack of training, or all three - such malfunctions are exceptionally rare among competent AR owers.

Thanks for the link. My guess is operator error coupled with failure to clean his rifle after shooting. He may have gone to the range and shot off a bunch of ammo then just tossed it back in the closet. The AR is a little particular about that.

Both Mateen and Cruz were mental cases, which not only helps explain their actions, but also their failures. Additionally, it points out that the problem isn't "ARs" but nut cases having access to ARs.

Since that is the exact logic applied by political opponents of Bush II and Obama, I can see how many would think so even though I disagree in all those cases. The primary problem continues to be Congress.

Was Obama also fully responsible for all of his many goof ups and errors?

Nikolas Cruz’s semiautomatic rifle may have jammed during the massacre at a high school in Parkland earlier this month, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS4.

Which has nothing to do with gas feeds.

    He wanted out of there.

A source not authorized to speak on the record confirmed to the Herald that Cruz struggled with his gun during the onslaught, either due to the weapon jamming or because he fumbled trying to reload it.

What Cruz lacked is training, which is why the struggled, that is not the fault of the firearm.

Several state legislators who visited the school with crime-scene investigators said they learned from police that Cruz’s rifle was not top-of-the-line, perhaps explaining the malfunction.

    B.S.

The “weapon and bullets were not high quality and were breaking apart,” one of the legislators, state Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, told the Herald.

More B.S. from a politician who knows nothing about firearms

Cruz went in with only 10-round magazines because larger clips would not fit in his duffel bag, Book said.

Nope, per the BSO preliminary investigation, he utilized aftermarket 20 round mags which may have contributed to a feed problem.

Plus her term of using "clips" further supports my claim she is an idiot when it comes to firearms.

    Typical liberal Dem.

The semi-automatic rifle used in the Colorado theater killings jammed during the rampage, apparently because of a problem with the 100-shot magazine feeding it, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the investigation said Sunday.

Anyone who uses a 100 round drum mag with a AR-15 in a tactical situation is an idiot.

The military-style AR-15 had a separately purchased drum magazine, which can have trouble feeding bullets into the firing chamber if the gun is fired rapidly, the source told CNN.

    No ****!

What I find interesting is the most of Trolls in this thread have gone home, they have a nine to five job of trolling the internet with their, improvable, nor backed with facts, anti-gun spam.

Their job is to dilute and attack anything positive about our rights.

To get back to the op.....If the only training you have with a gun is how to shoot it you are more of a danger than you are of a help

By such logic, law enforcement officers, especially those employed in both the city and state of New York, are more of a danger than a help.

I think you'll see that there are several well-above-retirement-age people on this forum whom I suspect are either shut-ins, disabled or otherwise lacking in human contact except this forum. They're here all hours of the day. I'm 62, so it's not like I'm slamming them. It's just the reality of both the Internet and people living well into their 70s and 80s. Many are fine, good people, but others, as I suspect you've seen are just very sad cases of people who are lonely.

We have a few people, of all ages who are "out there", but the most active are often well over 60.

I agree this should not have happened....however, the guy that got shot was the first to say imI going to kill you, more than once to both men that were armed. Sometimes you reap what you sow

He also threatened to take the old man's gun away and put a bullet in his head..

You are wrong on that, of course.

El Paso. One of the lowest rates of firearms related deaths in the entire country... AND no gun control to speak of.

Do you think what happens to work in El Paso could work everywhere else in the US? Meaning if the rest of the US had no gun control to speak of, would we see the same results as El Paso?

What cuts me to my core about the Pulse nightclub shooting is the number of people who simply laid down and waited to die.

There were a myriad of opportunities for people to have acted to defend themselves against Mateen's attack, but instead they cowered and whimpered and cried into their phones they were going to die. I bring that up and people say I'm "blaming the victims"... and they are right. With the exception of those wounded/killed in the opening fusillade of fire EVERY victim after that made the purposeful choice to give up, lay down, and die. I simply cannot get my head wrapped around that.

300 people laid down and did nothing, against 1 person.

300 people once held off a Persian army.
