When dealing with NK it's a slippery slope. They've had decades to create a very detailed doctrine on how to manipulate the west. After dealing with every US administration since the 50's they probably know us pretty well by now.

NK up until young Kim took over refused to sign a full peace agreement with the south unless the US removed it's military from the peninsula. Young Kim no longer requires that. So we shall see where all this leads. And if it leads to a normalization between both countries President Trump should get full credit for it even if the normalization takes place under a future administration. I believe whole heartedly it was Trump who started the open dialogue between NK and SK when he was the first US president to actually meet with a Kim.

That meeting was ground breaking. It is also not smart for us to continue to do drills on their border. The steps Trump has taken are far better than our previous administrations. By far.

Am I not under any kind of fire at all, with a remotely-controlled vehicle equipped with a mineflail and ground-penetrating radar?

How? I never said it couldn't be done. I said it is highly dangerous.

It really isn’t when you aren’t under fire, know exactly where the mines should be, and have modern mine clearing equipment.

Oh that's unfortunate. I guess CIA will intervene now like in Libya, Somalia, Iraq and Syria. Time for liberation. Sorry Koreas. You made a mistake that's gonna cost ya.

I really don't know what Moon can do that has you worried so much? SK's are all aware of how bad things are in NK. I seriously doubt most SK's want to live like that.

Not really, as historians are not as simple minded as political cheerleaders. They will recognize the effect of years of crippling sanctions on north Korea and the repeated exposure of their military grandstanding and failures. And these sort of talks have occured in the past and succeeded to different degrees, only to be reversed later. So, in reality, any large progress in the Koreas will take years and will not come to fruition while Trump is still in office. So, give nyour victory dance over this nugget of news, we don't want to hear you complain when the next president eats Trump's lunch and takes credit.

Being a liberal I suspect moon would rather surrender to north korea than see Seoul destroyed in a war

And it doesnt have to happen all at once or overnight

Neither side wants war. Both countries know their would be no constructive victory for either side. Normalizing relationships seems to be the goal here.

I don't believe he wants to see his country wiped off the face of the earth. NK has set up a defensive position. I don't see NK attacking first. He's not threatening Moon with an offensive first strike. NK has never threatened SK with an offensive first strike. Since the end of the Korean War North Koreans have barricaded themselves inside their country.

How long before this backfires or North Korea decides to do something sneaky later on? As they have a history of doing?

    Not hardly

Since the end of the the war north korean soldiers have died for the kim dictatorship

But all within south korean terrirory during attempts at infiltration

You believe kim really cares about the north korean people but I dont

If he cant have north korea, meaning if he feels power slipping away from him personally he will ladh out with all the force he has

And take as many koreans, japanese and Americans with him as he can

I never said Kim cared about most of his people. And any assassinators sent by NK were to kill NK defectors in order to discourage other NKs from defecting. And NK has barricaded itself in which is why it is called the Hermit Kingdom.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermit_kingdom

The term hermit kingdom can be used to refer to any country, organization or society which willfully walls itself off, either metaphorically or physically, from the rest of the world - The country of North Korea is a prime example of a hermit kingdom.

I dont know what the NK’s hope to gain by infiltrating the south

In some cases they may target defectors

But I dont think kim has given up the dream of his father and grandfater of a unified comminist korea
