    I feel sorry for the soldiers. Undoubtedly their commander in chief will want them in full combat gear to show how tough on illegal immigrants he is. Instead what they'll suffer is the ignome of being photographed armed for terrorists guarding Little Pepe and his blankie waiting while his mama legally by American laws seeks asylum. Any soldier that has that fate befall them will get years of abuse from friends. "So we're you afraid facing Pepe? We've all seen what Linus could do with his blankie. Maybe Pepe was an ISIS plant."
    Those soldiers would probably much rather pass out candy and play soccer with the kids but they all know what a hissy fit their CIC would have if they did.

    I doubt if many would subject their children to crushing poverty, life-threatening crime and oppression rather than seek a better life for them just because bureaucrats make it inconvenient.

    Who said they would be refused before they applied? They can apply their hearts out and we have every right to reject the town-wide mob.

    We aren't a soup kitchen. Ask Chicago how that works...

    The military, border patrol, ICE will keep our borders secure.

    We take in more legal immigrants than any other country.

    WE get to pick who comes here as it suits our interests.

    THEY don't get to cut in front of legal immigrants, particularly by breaking the law.

    In 1939, about 900 Jews had attempted to escape Nazi Germany on the MS St Louis, but the ship was turned away by the U.S. because of "immigration restrictions." More than 250 of those passengers were killed during World War II and the Holocaust.

    In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted, and guarantees the right to seek asylum in other countries. Subsequent regional human rights instruments have elaborated on this right.

    The basic principle of refugee law, non-refoulement refers to the obligation of States not to refoule, or return, a refugee to “the frontiers of territories where his life or freedom would be threatened on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.”

    The principle of non-refoulement prohibits not only the removal of individuals but also the mass expulsion of refugees.

    I have been to Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX, and unless one is going shut down commerce there completely, those troops are going to be busy.
