During the 2016 elections, I heard Rudy Ghouliani say during his convention speech "This is it, no more elections!" I could use lots of big words like Nazi, fascism, communism, chaos, mob rule etc. But I'm tired of that and will simplify the question.

This question is directed at ALL political persuasions. If the election result is not the result you want that is if Drumpf wins or loses, does that mean the United States will be irreversibly changed for the worst? Is everything you believe America is or should be at stake in the 2020 election?

I'm a foreigner but I would say yes to this question. Just to be clear, I don't see Germany of 1933 coming. What I do see is a society that reflects only 0.1% of what I believe an ideal society should be formed in the United States. In other words I can say practically NOTHING positive about America except that they don't do genocide.

I think that a great deal is at stake in 2020, but I wouldn't suggest that the US will be irreversibly changed for the worst. I think the next 6 years are a test...to see if America is as great as her citizens think she is...to see if people can look beyond their political noses to recognize that the country is far bigger and more important than one man or woman. Or one party or another. Or one policy or another. It's sad that it takes a great tragedy for people to come together and recognize that they are strongest united.

Naw, we have had good and bad Presidents, warriors, statesmen, and bafoons. The Republic will continue just fine no matter who wins.

if Trump is still President after 2020 I fully expect the next 4 years (2021 to 2025) to be about whether we ever have any real elections in 2024 or ever again. Trump and his minions have quite clearly shown themselves no friends to democracy.

I went to C-SPAN to hear it. Here's the quote: “There’s no next election. This is it! There’s no more time left to revive our great country . . . ” Giuliani is referring to the gross mistakes of Hillary Clinton and Obama in dealing with Islamic terrorism.

Many Americans had been having that same thought previously, and that if Hillary Clinton were elected it would be the end of the USA as a representative republic, and the USA would descend into mere democracy.

We were very fortunate that Hillary lost.

If (I'm assuming) you and many Americans felt that way in the last election, I don't see any reason why you would not feel the same in the next election except maybe that Drumpf gave a temporary break that extended to expiration date for the country.

That will be difficult especially when there are people that don't even believe in democracy (one person in this forum whom I will not name does not believe in universal suffrage). When I say democracy, I'm not talking about the system of government, rather I'm talking about the right to cast a vote and elect politicians as opposed to appoint them.

This is a very interesting question..........
i went with Yes but I am tempted to change my vote because i do feel that a massive Spiritual Awakening is about to take place in America and I am hoping that the leadership of both political parties will by 2020 be sick and tired of Wrap Up Smear vs Wrap Up Smear........ I am hoping that the Democrats will choose Oprah.........
and I have nominated the brilliant Chris Brown to assist her as V. P. or surely some other place can be created for him..... because he explains complex ideas in Economics to everybody all across the political spectrum:

    V. P. candidates to serve along with Oprah?

I would dearly love to be wrong......
but I am worried that Soros plus leaders in China, Iran, Europe and to some degree Russia.... might just go all out to devalue the USA dollar..... and they could plunge Wall Street into a similar mentality that prevailed in 1929?!

Personally.... I think that Bibi may hold the key to preventing a disaster......

    P. M. Netanyahu, President Trump has a 4.3 trillion dollar problem....

I feel some in this forum will answer 'no' simply because they feel 100% confident the President cannot lose so there is nothing to worry about. But if they took that confidence away, they would definitely answer yes.

I answered no because its impossible for one president to ruin America no matter what he does.

There have been far worse presidents than Hillary or Trump would ever be.

Trumps biggest problem is actually doing much of anything at the moment.

I think the lefties here forget what some of our bad presidents have done and are comparing Trumps Tweets to those.

    That's moronic.

We have two Americas right now, but it's confusing trying to keep them separated. Essentially, we have Social Media America, and then Real America. The latter is obvious, it's the same place that's been here for hundreds of years. The former is the online world that quite a few of us live in now where the rules are a bit different. Things are blown way out of proportion, outrage is addictive, and we judge folks for whom we otherwise know absolutely nothing about based on a few lines of text. Online America has made all of these things much easier(through things like anonymity) and faster than doing them to the same degree in Real America ever would be.

So, in 2020, Social Media America might lose it's mind, but Real America will keep going much the same way it always has. It is only at some unknown point in the future where Social Media America somehow becomes Real America(a scenario which a few shows and movies like Black Mirror have done fictionalized versions of) that we really have to worry. But, that time is not here yet, and hopefully it never will be.

Maybe you need to move to a democrazy since your living in a Republic and not happy.
It is true that it is the end of a Republic since we couldn't keep it because of immorality and apathy but it was till socialism and communist took over.
Bad thing is we lose good thing is we all lose so at least the destroyers won't benefit either.

I'm quite happy to be living in this Constitutional Republic, Democratically based. I'll be even happier when Trump is gone, Hopefully before 2020 but at least by then. Again, Trump and his ilk are no friends to Democratic elections

So you like blood thirsty vile war mongers and ultra rich oligarchs who have stolen the loot from others unlike Trump who made his wealth the old fashioned way.
Those who not only sold out the nation to others but also kept minorities down by keeping them in ghetto pens feeding them like cattle making them victims instead of winners. Now both foreign and domestic gangs rule over them and they are dieing from drugs, crime and immorality.

If Trump did nothing else but make his best effort possible to defeat the open-borderists, I would shed the last drop of my blood to keep Trump in office.

Since Trump is doing that and much more which I support, he has and will have my undying support.

"who made his wealth the old fashioned way."

....by not paying his subs and then going bankrupt so as to leave his investors holding the empty bag? Trump's major innovation was to keep lawyers on staff so he could avoid paying his subcontractors until they went out of business and not get eaten up by hourly legal fees himself

The way Trump became so cosy with the Russians in the first place was because nobody but them would have anything to do with him any more , he was just that crooked.

Many people go bankrupt if they work for a living but libs don't work they just rob and get rich off suckers who vote to keep them down and fed like livestock for votes.
Trump is not a good husband or man in some ways but still is better than the libs who make their wealth off the poor and lobby's. Like selling our uranium and secrets to Russia and China. Keeping the war machine going for profits in military stocks. Or making by using the poor in ghettos who live in crime infested drug cartel hoods.

And I'm not questioning your sincerity of what you believe. I merely point out that you too have this 'do or die' attitude at the present time meaning that Drumpf not winning the next election is not an option or at least not something to be prepared for.

Like when Obama won I have to accept the results of a constitutional, lawful federal election.

But I wouldn't care if Trump married Ru Paul and brought him into the WH under bigamy -- as long as Trump sticks to his policies, and most especially closing the border to illegal aliens.

Do you ever just TALK or do you just get up, turn on Rush or Hannity and string together snippets willy nilly? Examine what you just posted, a word salad that makes no sense at all. What is a "drug cartel hood" ? frex.

    Trump wont win in 2020

but we do have to address foreign outsourcing, automation, foreign imports as the economic society we once knew is about to change as the jobs just will not be there for future generations

but that is up to the younger folks now to decide where to go from here, I just hope it doesn't get too rocky as I want to retire in peace, enjoy it :)

If Rudy Ghouliani said what you accuse him of there would be a reason for unhinged leftwing TDS

But I dont think he did or you are quoting him out of context

They have the most comprehensive freedom of speech and association rights anywhere on the planet.

    That's a plus, surely.

You act like something has happened other than a bunch of upper middle class ***** getting offended on the internet.

The sky will not fall if Trump is re-elected, just as the sky did not fall when he was elected the first time round, nor did it fall when Brexit was passed, there are lots of doomsayers around who need to convince you armegeddon is any deviation from their upper middle class fake concerns.

The harder you push the more resistance you'll get. Look at France.

Find his 2016 Republican convention speech. It's there.

Freedom of speech is NOT my top priority for an ideal society.

Everything you say may or may not be true when you are pointing the finger at me. But what IF the president does not win reelection? Would it be the end of everything YOU believe the United States is or should be? Or do you simply refuse to entertain that thought because you believe 100% that the President will easily win reelection.

And yet it's the left attacks speech every single day.

The left trying to shut down speakers on campus was what made me lean right in the first place. I believe in absolute freedom of speech, either everything is ok to say or nothing is.
