i’m not asking for your interpretation of the constitution. i’m asking for your opinion. does it make sense to you? why or why not?

It makes sense to me. I can also understand why some people may want to change it. If the parents basically just flew in and out of the country then they probably shouldn't get it. If the parents were here for years then we should grant citizenship.

I am open to change, but only with an open And honest discussion. Not with a bunch of nationalists and bigots. So not with Trump in office.

probably? how about definitely? and if you illegally walk across the border 8 mos. pregnant... that’s a little wailing citizen emerging from the birth canal? how does that make sense in any realm of rational, logical, objective discourse?

so you argue if you’ve successfully violated out national sovereignty for a long period of time, we should reward you? was a time when we actually punished people for breaking the law.

what is bigoted in expecting people, especially foreign nationals, to obey the law?

The woman crossing the border: if she isn't from Mexico or Canada, then I am ok with her kid becoming a citizen.
We shouldn't hold the child for the sins of the parents.
Trump is a bigoted nationalist. It is obvious that he would try to shade anything to favor white people.

In addition to that, he has proven time and time again that he can't be trusted in negotiations. Dealing with him is a waste of time.

you must have a reason for the distinction. please...

i agree. while the parents should face criminal prosecution, the children should simply be deported. but that has nothing to do with not making it a citizen as it emerges from the birth canal.

i doubt that. but i’d love to see your evidence. and still, not relevant to the topic: russian babies, swedish babies, chinese babies, canadian babies, mexican babies, israeli babies, arab babies, african babies... all not citizens if mum is not legally present on the soil when she delivers her package.

    negotiations? with whom?
