No doubt about it, People types of snowbirds are as real in Florida in the winter as birds with wings that flock to the south in cold months of the year. There is a good number of Canadians that come as well as people from the east coast and the Midwest. Many are retirees and some have second homes in Florida.

People also tend to gather where they feel welcome. Many Hispanics who migrate to areas such as Miami do so because if they only speak Spanish, there is no language barrier. They are also there with others like themselves. Many Retirees also group in communities where there are other people their age. There is a number of retirement communities that consist single family homes but with nearby assisted living and complete nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. As a person gets older, either by choice or necessity, there are a places, by design, to meet their needs if they can't or no longer want to maintain a private residence.

There are other reasons too. One BIG reason you are seeing more retirees permanently moving to Florida is to escape high taxes like NY, NJ and now even IL in the Midwest. The state sales tax rate is 6% and there is no state income tax. Overall, the cost of living is reasonable. With favorable economic and conditions positive to business, more businesses are locating to Florida. The state no longer depends entirely on the tourist industry.

Yes, he should never have appointed Democrats to get involved in any situation requiring trust and competence. A lesson well earned.

All Broward County votes should be disqualified from this election.

They are never going to get an accurate count with the shady shenanigans that goes on down there.

It's a done deal now. Nelson conceded as did Gillum. Jeb, a centrist who appointed Snipes in the first place, not the smartest of the Bush family appointed her for political reasons. Scott should of rectified the situation but didn't, also for political reasons. Desantis, with the GOP's help might be able to oust her now but she will play the race card and has activist lawyers behind her. The politics of the whole thing is still complicated but her incompetence is now well documented.

Dementia might do her in sooner than anything else but unless the county changes to red which is highly unlikely you can expect another corrupt demorat to be elected in Broward.

You do know that this idiot Snipes has been ELECTED multiple over the last decade. Jeb had nothing to do with the election of Snipes. Broward is a democrat county. She would/will continue to be elected until her mug shot for election fraud is posted in the local paper.
    Hopefully you understand that now.

I don't condemn a women because of her party. I condemn Snipes because she's dishonest. I also haven't condemned all Democrats. Not all of them are dishonest. There are a few that are honest. I didn't manufacture some idiotic racist drivel about how blacks are stupid because they can't do math as you did.

    Are you on medication?

Sounds like a great place to send prisoners from red states. Cost savings for them, more democrat voters for LA.

I do know that Snipes has been repeatedly elected since 2004 by very ignorant voters in Broward county. I also know that Snipes was indeed appointed by Jeb Bush to replace Miriam Oliphant who was ousted after screwing up the 2002 FL Gov. primaries. See my post #29. Please review my other posts. You are repeating what I have already said, understand?

Snipes, the unethical, incompetent, Democrat hack has resigned, so that's a good step forward for Florida (unless her replacement is as bad as she is.....)

You don't know crap about it and couldn't possibly be more wrong. They're elected and are usually of the party that controls the county. Snipes was appointed by Gov. Bush by 2003 at the request of the Broward County DNC because her Democrat predecessor, Miriam Oliphant, was a total embarrassment to them.

Miriam Oliphant was the Supervisor of Elections for Broward County, Florida, from January 2001, when she was elected to that position by over 65% of the vote, to November 2003 when she was suspended by Governor Jeb Bush for "...grave neglect, mismanagement and incompetence." Although even Democratic activists backed Bush's decision, Oliphant, the only African American holding a county-wide office at the time, enjoyed much support from the black community which reacted negatively to her ouster. In 2005, the Florida Senate voted 33 to 6 to uphold Governor Bush's removal of Oliphant. Although immediately following the vote Oliphant's attorney, Ellis Rubin, announced Oliphant would sue Governor Bush in Federal Court, no claim was ever filed.

Rick Scott was not Governor in 2003. You couldn't be more ignorant.

It's frustrating to keep correcting the same lies again and again, isn't it.

Besides all the misinformed folks here about Snipes they probably have no idea and should be appalled to learn that Brenda Snipes was making $172,000 per year! Actually by double dipping she was/is taking down roughly $200,000 per year. Can you guess why?

Hell, her base salary is nearly the same as what a US congressman makes, $174,000 per year.

The amount of filth and corruption that infests our government on every level boggles the mind. We voters have not been sufficiently vigilant and engaged and neither have the GOP Administrations that have been running this state.

I hope that in his new term, Governor DeSantis does everything he can to dismantle the Broward's and Palm Beach Counties' corrupt Democrat-led election rigging enterprise. Along with the rule of a just and stable law - also on the ropes in our republic - free and fair elections are the glue that holds our society together. This kind of banana republic crime is poison.

If ever there was a time when the Governor should be able to get bipartisan support to straighten out our election related problems, I'd think now is the time, since Snipes and Broward County have made Florida a laughing stock and put us under a microscope.

We need to take this seriously. Broward County could decide a Presidential Election. That two GOP governors let that woman stay in that position illustrates that the GOPe just doesn't have it's head in the game.

You forget that this is also Wassermann Schultz territory. She won way too easily. Voter education is what is really needed in south FL. If there is going to be any house cleaning, it needs to start by recalling this phony, corrupt house representative along with Snipes and the other corrupt election supervisor in Palm Beach county, both Schultz puppets.

Democrats voted her in, Republicans exposed her and forced her out. Another Democrat caused problem solved by Republicans.

One was Bush. We know how that goes. He appointed her. After that it was on the Democrats that kept voting for her.
