You really need me to go into the details for how badly FEMA mismanaged the Katrina recovery?

Sure. I did make a mistake. Landrieu was the LA senator at the time. The governor was Blanco. She didn't request help until after the hurricane had already hit.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_Hurricane_Katrina

Governor Blanco ordered 68 school buses into New Orleans from surrounding parishes to begin evacuating any survivors that remained in the city. 6908 Army National Guard and 933 Air National Guard were deployed (7,841 total). Governor Blanco and the National Guard stated that they could "handle it". FEMA Director Michael Brown also urged local fire and rescue departments outside Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi not to send trucks or emergency workers into disaster areas without an explicit request for help from state or local governments. Brown sought the approval from Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff five hours after landfall to dispatch 1,000 Homeland Security workers into the region. Brown acknowledged that this process would take two days. He described Katrina as a, "near catastrophic event."

Sounds like Brown did all he could until Blanco finally asked for help after the levy broke. If he had sent them in before the request, they would have been in the flood during the levy collapse and casualties themselves. Blanco should have been more proactive and requested help with the evacuation before the storm.

And then FEMA totally bungled the recovery even after they were brought in.

It was already chaos, death, and looting before the feds were called in. The state and local governments screwed it up and wanted to blame the feds for being unable to prevent their screwup.

The entire FEMA participation was a shitshow even after order was restored.

And CNN reported fake news that there was cannibalism taking place in New Orleans.

    How CNN reports fake news.

Good question, was it food stuffs or was it Jerseys, shoes and TVs? And did they shoot at rescue helicopters? And how did you know they were republicans? Since there is a huge divide of white people voting for the left or right, its a shot in the dark.

So taking stuff that isn't yours is okay and not "looting" when you are white and it is food?

It could be guns... but i think the cause and effect is reverse.

High crime areas tend to value firearms less, and also tend to loot more.

Alaska is a low crime area. They value firearms and dont loot.

Subsidies stop looting. Now there is a really stupid premise. You never cease to amaze.

Almost as dumb as "guns stop looting" when evidence from Texas and Louisiana shows no they do not.

You equate a few looters in a few isolated areas, two liberal cities, to a whole state. Now how do subsidies stop looting?

Pelosi says it's "crumbs". 2000 won't get a person squat in Alaska. That's not even a month's rent.

People so poor they are helped by $2,000 already don't pay taxes, so yeah, the tax return was crumbs.

Nobody is yet willing to take the blame for not using the school busses to evacuate New Orleans in 2005.

Now they're saying only half the 500 busses actually ran, as some sort of mitigating excuse. Kind of like the drainage pumps. As you know the elevation of Nawlins is below sea level and without pumps the city would be constantly flooded. Last year the city promised all 121 pumps were fully operational. After that promise mere rain, not a hurricane, flooded the city as about half the pumps worked.

City government is so bad in Nawlins that you would be crazy to locate a business there.

In spite of the fact that Alaskans are about three times as likely to use their guns, if the hunting licences are any indication.

I am sure there are a number of reasons why there was little or no looting in Alaska. I believe the guns were a factor. Alaskans tend to be more independent and see no need to loot.

Alaska does not have many large cities. Even though the quake was near Anchorage, it is generally a rural area. Looting tends to occur in in urban areas.

One other factor for which I am sure I will get a lot of flack. Looting tends to be done more by blacks and there are fewer black in Alaska. But for whatever reason, it is a fact.

I didn't say that. Anyone who stayed during hurricane Katrina in NO was dumb. Even if people saved up for the storm for their food and water, it was still dumb. If they had to go out and "loot" food stuffs to survive, I hope they would have been honest enough to pay for it later. Shoes, jerseys and TVs...there is just no excuse for that type of looting, but on top of that, those looters were also shooting at rescue helicopters. Its amazing to me how you can lump the two different situations together and try to either hammer white people for survival or excuse black people for homicidal actions. You are the epitome of racism through low expectations.

People in NO were willing to use their guns too....at rescue helicopters when they though they were the police stopping them from getting a new pair of jordans.

Because hunting and using a gun against a person are the same thing? All hunting licenses indicate is that Alaska is more rural.

Were the people who stayed in the Carolinas during their hurricanes dumb too? Why weren't white people stealing things that didn't belong to them after those hurricanes called "looters"?

Ask the liberal media what they were called. Anyone stealing during a disaster is a looter. I hope they get shot.

Yes, they too were dumb just as I said the white people in NO who stayed were dumb. Was there coverage of them taking shoes, jerseys and TVs like in NO?

My property is less than 70 miles as a crow flies from Anchorage, it's 2 hors by boat to get to the nearest major road to take you to Anchorage. So yes it is near the same fault line and there are probably as many smaller quakes there as there are in California.
