and do you understand that morals change over time. it is no longer moral to think of other races as inferior and can be owned, it is not moral for woman not to be able to vote. itis not moral for only 6% percent of the population to be able to vote as it was in Washington's time. The constitution was framed to be able to change, because the framers know that what they seen as the natural will change over time. What natural law governs telecomunications

We're in agreement to a point. Employers actually should be deported with the illegals. They are aiding and abetting. This won't stop the drug and human trafficking however. Walls work in aiding surveillance. It is a fact. The cost is only a portion of what we spend on the costs of illegals and welfare to their countries. The money is there. We just need to reallocate it!

True morality is a constant. The Constitution is based on precepts that do not ever change. Human Nature never changes. It hasn't in recorded history. In fact Truth never changes regardless of what you imagine it to be. (though I have my own idea). You can disarm America and within the framework of human nature is ALWAYS the capacity to mow down the disarmed as did Joseph Stalin and many others. That never changes and we must remember. Human Nature constantly struggles for power over others. In America, we are comparatively free due to our capacity to protect the individual and empower the individual to protect themselves.

The American taxpayers spend $99 billion dollars on illegal aliens every year. The bean counters say $116 billion. Most of that is for free stuff and the services they use.

Doesn't include cops killed, Americans killed on our roads and highways by DUI illegal aliens, illegal alien gangs and the cost of border security and cleaning up after the trash left behind by taco trucks.

Trump's fans didn't like this post. For that reason, it bears repeating.

Trump has put the leadership of his party in an impossible position.

On December 19, The GOP-controlled Congress severely undermined Trump’s drive for a border wall, embracing a short-term spending bill that would keep the government open but deny any new money for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The agreement announced by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would fund the federal government through Feb. 8, averting a partial shutdown.

The Senate passed the legislation by voice vote. Congressional leaders said they expected Trump to sign it before the shutdown deadline.

Trump changed his mind. Hence the government shutdown.

On Jan. 3, Democrats took control of the House. The newly Democratic-controlled House passed a package of bills late Thursday that would reopen the federal government without paying for Trump’s border wall. McConnell reiterated that the Senate will take up only spending legislation that Trump supports.

McConnell’s stance prompted angry attacks from new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and other Democrats, who insisted they were trying to give Republicans a way out of the standoff by passing two pieces of legislation: one a package of six spending bills that were passed on a bipartisan basis in the Republican-held Senate and would reopen nearly all the federal agencies that have been shuttered since Dec. 22. The other dealing with the wall and the DHS.

Not only is McConnell refusing to bring to a vote a bill that the Republican Senate already has approved, he is taking himself and the entire Republican Party out of the equation in terms of settling disputes over the shutdown. McConnell does not want to be snookered again by Trump. Trump has forced his party to take a backseat in the negotiations.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

    McConnell's current mantra.

    Welcome to the Trump Presidency.

    Ummm.

    Help me here.

How can McConnell refuse to bring to a vote a bill that the Republican Senate already has approved?

If it's approved, didn't they vote on it already?

Or are you referring to the approved House appropriations bill sent to the Senate?

    Real solution to illegal immigration:
    1. Fence instead of wall.
    2. Very strict limited visiting visas.
    3. Require IDs for use of any government service, maybe even some private ones.
    4. Major penalties for employers who hire illegals.
    5. (Personal fantasy) Eliminate birthright citizenship.

It's this type of comment that ensures bile. A nation of immigrants whining about immigrants? Tut tut, how pathetic.

Pulling chicken guts at the Perdue factory is not work a lot of Americans will do, but illegals will jump at it because it pays more in a hour than they can make in a day where they are. Even at sub-minimum wage. When you have people hiring at that kind of differential they are always going to find a way to get here. And no matter what the politicians say, they have no real interest in stopping them. Those employers contribute to their campaigns.

2-3-4-5 good ideas. Why get hung up on the word "wall"? A fence is something a 10 year old can climb over in my estimation.

Correction.....a Nation of Immigrants objecting to illegal immigrants. Words do matter. Don't twist them.
Example for clarification....... In Kalifornia today they buried a policeman who was a "legal immigrant" murdered by an "illegal immigrant".

Actually Trump is really proposing a fence, just a very strong fence. I'd even add some barbed wire on that thing.

Actually I believe he is talking about an effective barrier that will be appropriate according to the terrain, geography etc. Open border people just object to the word "wall" because it tells others we mean business. They just want to kick the can down the road as usual and gather more "collective types".

Those Indigenous Americans did have well thought out laws legalising European immigration. I remember the exact vocab: "please come over, get fat and be a blight on the rest of the world just for the crack". It was part of their 'we need right wing xenophobes who will vote for reality tv stars talking bobbins' open policy campaign. They were very forward thinking.

The plan was to reopen the federal government while Congress and Trump negotiate the DHS budget and the wall. Trump and the Republicans want nothing to do with the bill that was originally passed by the Republican controlled Senate to keep the government open.

There is little doubt who is to blame for the government shutdown now.

A degree of amnesty has been granted 6 times over the years. Nothing ever done about border security. Trump is intent on doing it. The mere notion of that is having its effect. Build the Wall!

Why do people endorse a single solution as opposed to using multiple methods to tackle illegal immigration? Also, drug dealers, terrorists, criminals etc aren't looking for work per se at least not the legal kind. Such individuals will cross the border illegally.

Can anyone actually explain why illegal immigration is suddemy such a big issue. Economy doing good. Employment doing good. As far as I can tell there is no actual reason why illegal immigration has suddenly becone such a national source of hysteria.

How about the cop that died in California. Or the crimes committed by illegal immigrants who were deported several times.

It seems like democrats are pro human trafficking and pro drug trade because they seemed to do everything they can to aid and abet the people involved. They even tip off gangsters when ice is coming for them.

We're a nation of LEGAL immigrants who came through checked and regulated.

I am all for legal immigration. It is the people that come and go across our border unchecked and unregulated that cause problems and are dangerous.
