This seems like a dishonest communication to me as low income people who are citizens have healthcare via state and maybe federal funds. It seems like this is an illegal immigrant program, which most definately will be interesting to watch. They will pass through Oklahoma and head straight to New York.

The cost of medication will also be covered. Any time you’re seeing a primary-care doctor or a specialist and you’re getting your issue addressed, that’s immensely better and cheaper than going to an emergency room. In addition, NYC Care will set a person up with a primary care provider who can refer them to mental health services including alcohol and substance abuse programs and therapy sessions.

Helping people to get routine health care on the front end, will save a lot of money on the back end when people get really sick, and need emergent care or extended hospital stays.

Great plan. All that is required is to ignore that Americans are fatter and sicker than ever in spite of record profits for the pharm industry. It is refreshing to hear that there are no plans to raise taxes. Admitting that they had the money all along, but were just irresponsible with it is a good start.

 

I think that's the best part of this plan. People in the Bronx, where this will be taking effect, will now have medical care, advice and counseling at their disposal and all free. This is where the problems with diabetes, hypertension and other diseases created by a poor diet can be addressed. There's nothing more vital to the health and wellness of anyone than preventative care.

But the poor diet is subsidized by you and me. Government doesn't use our tax dollars to subsidize kale or broccoli. After we pay to make them sick, the doctor will prescribe a drug to mask symptoms so that they may continue their habits. Once side effects start showing up, more prescription drugs will be required. What you are calling "health care" does not prevent illness and does not create cures. They create lifetime customers.

 

Why can't single state MFA work? I understand that it will not work at any level, but let's encourage them to try it in their states and not bring it to mine.
