We've all seen the recent chaos, Macron's popularity rating is under 20%, his government might well be on the way out.

I predict France will continue it's tradition by surrendering to the EU completely.

    Elect Marine Le Pen first.
    A real, Gaullist
then Frexit might have an honest chance.

PROBLEM: There is an influential group of French getting rich off globalism, the EU, etc.
and a much smaller influential, larger number of French losing to international competition between Polish Labor costs and French Labor costs.

    What part is incorrect?

The way you and the other loony toons keep throwing the term "globalism" around, it's clear you don't understand what it means or what its historical context is. People were already talking about a global economy in the 1920s.

In the fifties, & sixties, my uncle had a business in Hollywood, L.A. , California.

    Freight Traffic Engineers

And his office and stacks and files of "tariffs" fees and such.

What he offered his clients, and the Japanese loved him,
was getting the tariff paper work in order so to move the imported stuff
off the docks and into the nation, quickly.

I grew up hearing the word tariff, never fully understanding what they were.
Globalism, the absence of tariffs. No Thank You.

Access to American markets has value.
    Tax fereigners for it.

    How's that for understanding? ?

Hey, all you other 'old guys' -- remember how all you had to do was just LOOK at Rodney Dangerfield and you'd just kind of spontaneously start laughing? That's the reaction of a lot of people when you even mention "France".

Poor France... it hasn't really amounted to "dried sh*t" since Napoleon was defeated in 1815....

Le Pen is a fascist like daddy. Far right, but less fat and ugly. At least on the outside.

If you believe that, you deserve them, but most don't. Trump is a nationalist.

Patriots love their country. Nationalists hate everyone elses.

    Oh how we disagree.
Sadly, nationalism has been polluted with images of extremists
and not what it is about. (Similar to the CSA and Nazi associations)
When I pay taxes to The State of California,
I do hope those taxes are used for California and not to feed the poor in Oklahoma.

Yes, Trump is a nationalist and advises other national leader to be the same.
And so far, are nationalist President has not invaded anyplace nor fostered a putsch as in Ukraine.
I guess he is too busy taking care of the nation ;)

The French working people have suffered under globalist policies.
The Polish worker can happily do the work for less than a French worker.
Nationally protected regional brand names are now available for less, Made in Poland.

So who is the winner in France?

    Not Labor.
What would Charles de Gaulle do? Every French person should wonder.

No. They had the chance to vote for Marine Le Pen but in true French style, the population waved the white flag and voted Emmanuel Macron in. They're sunk.

The real question is, "Is Britain still going to brexit?"

It is funny that France is one of only two countries that actually voted on EU membership. France and Holland voted “no”. Screw the voters. Bureaucrats signed up those countries against the wishes of voters. The rest of the countries signed up with no input from voters. Now the British deep state is desperately trying to derail the Brexit vote.

That's a hateful and dishonest statement.

Trump was elected as President of the USA, not as Socialist saviour if the world.

The globalists are the ones that despise the world's people.

Sarkozy and Hollande had very low popularity rate too, around the same percent. That's not very rare for french presidents to be that unpopular.

As a french, I think it's unlikely, more and more people see the EU as something negative, and it's probably the majority, but here is the problem : leaving EU or even the eurozone would cost billions. The country is heavily in debt.

@Nonnie Two things explain that, the most important is that every media were pro Macron and anti Le Pen, that wasn't information anymore, the other thing is that Marine Le Pen made an absolutly disastrous debate against a Macron which was from my point of view already disastrous. Marine Le Pen is a mediocre woman and I would have hoped that she would have left political life, but unfortunatly we're cursed to have the same loosers staying in politics.

@MAGA I would appreciate you avoid to blame the millions of french which died in the defense of France those last centuries, many of them being my ancesotrs. I know it's a little bit complicated for you, considering that the USA have an absolute disregard to their own veteran, considering the number of them being homeless, so I have quite little hope that you respect foreigners which died for their own country.

@John Sample Excellent comment, globally the french politcal life is "democracy is ok until it don't go against mass migration, free trade and EU".

@Pollycy I don't appreciate Napoleon, he send one million more french being slaughtered in useless wars (considering that before him many french already died because of the revolution civil war and against the rest europe). I largely prefer Robespierre, even if the man had is flaws. It's interesting that he managed to predict the rise of power of Napoleon.

@Moi621 Marine Le Pen is an extremly mediocre political woman, she attempted to be elected and failed twice. One failure was enough, the biggest favor she could do would be to leave the political life and let a more gifted anti establishment leader appear. Her political career is a curse for France.

I voted "no" to the frexit question. Not that I see the EU as something positive, but it's barely manageable right now.

France has an opportunity to achieve true greatness once again -- by forming an even better, and closer relationship with Germany! Together, with Germany (the real 'power-house' of the EU), your two countries can achieve profitable, beneficial trade relations with both Russia and China on a much larger scale.

Yes, France has mostly lived in the shadows of defeat and disappointment since Napoleon. Your country has been corrupted with criminal politicians and high-ranking people who have wanted to turn France into a huge "toilet" for the purpose of gaining cheap labor and spreading ruinous, socialistic poison throughout your country. And many of those same things have happened in Germany under Merkel and her CDU political party, which has been nothing but a stooge-organization for the European Central Bank.

Rise above that now, and forge an alliance with a renewed Germany! It won't be quick, and its effects won't be immediate, but the possibility is very real that France can truly be GREAT again!

I don't recall blaming your ancestors or any other dead French citizens for anything.

Please use the quote function to complain about a post, as it gives an accurate display of the post and not an opinion about it.

I find it odd that you blame me personally for the way Veterans are treated. Do you take personal responsibility for all of your nation's actions?
