2 years of gridlock. I hope Trump keeps the government shut down until he gets his wall. The American people voted for Trump and this was his main objective. Trump should veto as much as needed and use executive orders as needed. I think it's about time for Schumer and Pelosi and other congressman to get term limits. I really don't want to see Ocasio Cortez for 50 more years.
Psst you guys lost ground in the Midterms. Voters decided to vote for a Democratic House. It would be immoral for those Dems to break their promise and vote for a wall they campaign against. Trump should also keep his promise by negotiating with Mexico for a payment plan incorporated in their fiscal budget for 2019-2020 and leave the American taxpayer who thought he wasn't paying, out of it completely. When a President has trouble breaking 40% favorability for more than a month, and he loses one of the two congressional houses, he is not going to be able to get his legislative agenda passed. Sorry. You need a more politically savvy President.
Liberals take Trump out of context or take him too literally all the time. The amount we spend on illegal immigration will go down over the long term by building a wall. Drug and gang deaths will go down. You have to look at the big picture. Trump is not afraid of tariffs on Mexico to fund it one way or the other either.
I am pretty literal about what my taxes are going to and what Congress allots the money toward. Everyone knows what it means when Congress funds a project. It means that Americans are paying for it from their hard earned tax dollars. The way to ensure that Mexico pays for it, is for Congress not to allocate funds, and for the Mexican parliament to do so. Not interested in what Trump does to Mexico before, after or during this process. I am only interested in Americans not funding Trump's wall. Trump needs to keep his promise. He can fly down and negotiate the details with the Mexican government. Your 'big picture' is coming straight from a Donald Trump camera. He's cropped it for you and air brushed it up.
Question, has it ever occurred to you why Trump didn't push through his border wall while his party had both chambers of Congress? Why did he wait until the Dems won the House? Think about it. The answer might be enlightening.
