We could have built Trump's wall 30 times with the $150 billion Obama gave Iran.

I've already explained that there is no way "the Dems hand over $5B to Trump". That's not the way the system works. None of the of $4 trillion or so annual budget is ever handed over to Trump, or any President. You're working on a false premise.

Which is the better use of American money, $5 billion to fight terrorism or giving $150 billion to terrorist?

Right. And an investigation into 'collusion' would have been more appropriate given the Muslim connection, the failure to help dissidents, the nuclear agreement, etc. Can anyone imagine Trump shipping $155 billion to Iran??

And that money is wasted, as we know. The only way these governments should receive any assistance is if there are observers on the ground to see how this money is spent and where it's being spent. As well all the laws and bureaucracies have to be looked at and if they don't like it they can refuse the aid.

Fifteen years ago or more the Danish government said they'd help Nicaragua with their main highway but would oversee the construction. The government said No, that it was paternalism, colonialism etc. , the usual stuff, so the Danes said okay, no roads. The Nicaraguan government naturally changed their minds and beautiful roads were built, complete with bicycle lanes. Of course, sad to report, poor maintenance ruined them within a few years.

You're limited by your lack of imagination. Because Trump has made so much money he has someone do it for him.

John Perkins was Chief Economist for Chas T Main corporation, advising World Bank, US Treasury Dept, United Nations, IMF and Fortune500 corporations, including our strategy in nations south of Mexico.

In his book "I was an Economic Hitman" he describes how he contributed in the US effort to subvert those nations by pressuring them to accept loans for which there was NO CHANCE of repaying us - and then using their constant state of default to force policy beneficial to the US, regardless of damage to the local people. Federal aid to those nations in support of the circumstances we created was forced through to the bottom lines of US corporations which had provided for-profit services to be paid for by the loans. It was a money laundering scheme for tax dollars sent to these countries and then back to US corporations, with the benefit that we also controlled local decision making - with bankruptcy as the hammer.

The damage wrecked on those nations and their people by the US is horrific. The resultant revolutions have not led to improvement even to today. One has to note that presidential criminality such as Iran-Contra was tied to this.

In fact, Trump's nominee for AG, Barr, was AG for GHWBush, lobbying him hard to pardon everybody related to Iran-Contra, even if they hadn't come to trial yet - flowing from his well documented idea that presidents (such as Reagan and Trump) are above the law.

So, yes we laundered tax dollars through those nations into US corporate pockets and caused them to take actions that were not even SLIGHTLY in the interest of the people, in the interest of sound economic strategy, or in the interest of democratic governance.

    And, they still haven't recovered.

    LOL!!!

The bipartisan immigration bill passed by the Senate in 2013 included $40 billion for our southern border. Rubio lobbied for that bill, as did other Republicans who were on the bipartisan committee that designed it.

AND, it included fixing our visa system (how more than half come and then overstay) and protecting jobs with money to fix, require, and police e-verify usage - the major reason they come.

If Trump wants $40B for his wall, he could resurrect that bill and ask for a vote on it!!!

Dems are on record voting for it.

    $40 BILLION!!!

    Call your congressmen!!!

    Tweet your president!!!

    Nonsense.

The money would be disbursed at the pleasure of the Executive Branch on expenses of wall improvement.

By taking their jobs? I must have missed where people are forcing them to be there. They applied for the job. They want it, and you want to take it away.

I think the best policy might be to set up a system of micro loans to entrepreneurs in these countries resulting in economic growth from the bottom up.

And more intellectual dishonesty. Pathetic. You are actually claiming that $40B was committed to building a wall and that wall would have to be completed before any other reforms could be implemented ??

    Democrats offered $1.6B
    Trump countered with $5.7B

Democrats have yet to counter offer. The ball is in their court.

    F A C T ...

*CLAIM: Posts circulating widely online state that “The Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars and got nothing, but they can’t give 5 Billion Dollars for National Security and a Wall?”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. There was no $150 billion payout from the U.S. treasury to Iran, according to an AP Fact Check.

THE FACTS: The erroneous posts are identical to a tweet made Wednesday by President Donald Trump after a contentious meeting with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to discuss funding of a border wall. Trump has made the Iran claim before in different situations. An AP Fact Check published April 24, 2018, found there was no such payment. According to the article, the money Trump refers to represents Iranian assets held abroad that were frozen until a deal was reached in 2015 to curb Iran’s nuclear program and ease sanctions. Tehran was then allowed access to its funds.

Trump is seeking $5 billion in an upcoming spending bill to put toward construction of a wall along the U.S. southern border. Democrats have voiced opposition to spending more than $1.6 billion for border security. In the meeting with Schumer and Pelosi, which became heated, Trump said he would shut down parts of the federal government rather than approve funding that did not include the $5 billion for the wall.

This is part of The Associated Press’ ongoing effort to fact-check misinformation that is shared widely online, including work with Facebook to identify and reduce the circulation of false stories on the platform."

And if you now counter that AB is not thrustworthy, then I get a laugh attack!

Just an fyi, it was the Dems in the Senate that blocked it. GOPs never had 60% of the Senate.

Gotta love watching Democrats try and weasel out of their GodKing supporting terrorists.

Nobody said Obama used treasury funds when he sent a plane load of cash to fund terrorism.

So what's changed then? Why the political posturing on the part of the president and the GOP ignoring this fact and expecting that now things have changed? It's pure created crisis to distract.
