Wow, Nancy, what a move. Trump has met his match, a powerful lady (to Trump's chagrin) who is not about to back down.

CNN wrote a powerful analysis of this maneuver. "Sometimes the best power moves in politics are conveyed in the most mundane language."

"Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29," wrote Speaker Nancy Pelosi to President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

CNN continued, "Make no mistake: Pelosi's decision to disinvite Trump from delivering his "State of the Union" address to Congress is a total power play designed to remind Trump that a) Congress is a co-equal branch of government and b) his willingness to keep the government shuttered until he gets money for a border wall is going to have impacts on him, too.

"Just in case you missed that message, Pelosi delivered it again in an interview with CNN's Ashley Killough. "This is a housekeeping matter in the Congress of the United States, so we can honor the responsibility of the invitation we extended to the President," said Pelosi. "He can make it from the Oval Office if he wants."

"He can make it from the Oval Office if he wants(!)"

"What Pelosi is saying there is, essentially, this: Look, Trump can give a speech if he wants. But we are not giving him the platform of a bipartisan session of Congress to do it unless and until he reopens the government. (House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland went a step further in an interview with CNN's Kate Bolduan Wednesday afternoon, declaring that "the State of the Union is off.")

"And from a logistical standpoint, Pelosi is well within her rights to rescind the invitation.

"In her initial letter inviting Trump to deliver the "State of the Union" on January 29, Pelosi made sure to note: "The Constitution established the legislative, executive and judicial branches as co-equal branches of government, to be a check and balance on each other." And, when asked by The New York Times earlier this month whether she considered herself to be Trump's equal, Pelosi responded: "The Constitution does.'"

Wow! Double wow! The lady has balls. Good, this could get real interesting.

Trump is breaking all the rules, actual and decorum. The loyal opposition can do the same.

If such a request came from the Secret Service, it should be honored. However, since Pelos's motives are more than likely political, they should be disregarded.

CNN is counting upon the ignorance of democrats when it says that Pesolsi has the power to disenvite trump from delivering his SOTU address to congress

She does not control congress and does not have the power to stop trump

But for the momemt I guess most CNN viewers do no know that

You sound like you really believe the BS being spewed on far left cesspools like MSNBC or elsewhere

The claim that trump is stupid is only meant to misonform the uninformed

You can call people names all you want, but formulating a logical rebuttal to something you think is nit-wittish is...

    beyond half the country.

Which half do you live in?

Wait, no need to let me know. Your lack of a rebuttal to anything he has ever said speaks volumes.

I have to disagree. Trump doesn't always make sense to me. It's just that when it comes down to brass tacks, do you know what I believe? He's going to get his wall, and Pelosi isn't going to get her dreamers.

When you get to six bankruptcies then develope a relationship with Putin and distain for NATO as a result for financing, that shows a complete lack of judgement. His ignorance and total unawareness of the healthcare system, science and anything more then one page is the inexcusable by anyone but those with same traits. Congratulations.

You guys are funny. Everything you accuse me of doing as a private citizen, Trump does in spades as the president of the United States. Maybe, I’m just “telling it like it is” which is something you guys like about him when he name calls.
You guys are chips of the old block.

Get his wall ? That’s dillusional. Are you guys actually buying into the complete redefinition ? Humpers were adament one time about it being a concrete wall 2000 miles long and Mexico will pay for it.

Now, he’ll “get his wall” if he gets 100 miles of fence and repairs to others. Your vulnerability to an abosolute fraud is amazing.
Dems have been into the yearly incremental fence and repairs as needed for years.

You’re already compromised. It’s laughable. You’ll be praising his asteroid if he gets a shower curtain. He’ll call it a 2000 mile wall, pretend by magic Mexico paid for it, and you guys will be happy because he’s as dillusional as his supporters.

    Really?
    Trump did that personally?
As I remember it, you are the one who said it was free.
And it goes on and on.

Is she who she says she Is?

I did a search and could not find any high profile structural engineer with her name

We saw during the Kavanaugh confirmation how liberals will make up lies to get what they want

I think there's another agenda at play here. In another few days, all those furloughed federal government employees can be fired. After 30 days (the shutdown is in its fourth week) they can just be handed their walking papers.

Do you remember "drain the swamp"? Well guess how many more days before the swamp can really start to get drained...

    Thats an interesting thought

But I’m not versed enough in government service to be sure if thots possible

If so I’m all for it

Even so the bigger danger for trump is is the essential employees walk off the job and shut down essential services such as ATC or TSA

These shutdowns don't affect employees considered "essential". As for ATC and TSA, they aren't essential.

it's a bit legalese, but the lowdown can be found here...
    https://federalnewsnetwork.com/gove...nment-shutdown-extends-past-30-days-omb-says/

No wall? Well okay, then the firings commence. How much of the swamp is pelosi going to allow to be straight out fired before she decides that maybe a wall isn't entirely out of the question?

Either way, we win. We get our wall, or we drain the swamp.

The emploees considered essential are still working but not getting paid

Yes they will get paid eventually but there is the possibility they will walk off the job

And if the air traffic controllers go on strike it would disrupt air travel and be very bad
