No it's not. An entitlement is due you. You have the right to bear arms, but you are not entitled to receive said arms. You have the right to free speech, but you are not entitled to receive any platform to exercise said free speech. And as I said in the previous post, for the purpose of this thread this is the context of the question. If we want to debate what an right actually is, we can start a new thread.
You are taking it a bit far I think. Abortion was the particular example I choose, but we can just as easily ask if a person has a right to bear arms, if he has no means by which to wield them.
UhDUH, you can't abort something that isn't there …. goodgawd… Is anyone "entitled" to have any medical procedure if they don't need it? ...and , NO, you can't have a heart bypass for shits and giggles either....so WTF are you talking about???
Oh!!!! I get it...you're one of those who wants so desperately to equate women's right to their own body with gun control.
Explain your reasoning and stop playing with semantics . here is a definition of entitlement a : the state or condition of being entitled : right b : a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
How could a woman get an abortion if she’s not pregnant. I guess you can get one the same way a man can… In your mind
Well, don't ask it in this forum, this is the abortion forum and has nothing to do with gun control no matter how hard gun lovers try...
If a right is defined as a moral entitlement then it is one and the same thing. A woman is morally entitled to have control over her body therefore a right to an abortion.
Your seperation of rights and entitlements is false. A right is an entitlement of something that is due to you under the law. The right to bear arms means you are entitled to receive said arms. The right of freedom of speech means you are entitled to “receive a platform”. The right of ones own body means you are entitled to receive the health services you want. Prevention by the government of receiving these is a violation of your rights. If you are incapable of speech, bear arms, or an abortion then it is as I said before, non-sensical to ask whether you have that right or not.
Even though abortion is nothing to joke about that one was hilarious...…."get permission" ..LOL!!! From a mere husband or father ! Hilarious!
Why would someone who doesn’t have a gun have a right to bear one? Do you see why that entire line of argument is nonsensical?
It doesn't matter if she's pregnant or not, all women have the right to their own bodies....abortion may not be a right but the right to one's own body IS a right..
If you give them too many rights, next thing you know they will want to vote, and,,,Heaven forbid,,,drive.
Our gov't has already given the right of woman to kill her unborn child. Probably because women were already doing it, illegally, and some were dying because of these abortions. I personally would have never made it a right to kill another human being, except in self defense, and just not enacted laws against abortion. I don't think it is a god given right at all to kill the unborn. But we should not have laws against it that punishes those they do it. Going down that road of giving a woman a right to kill an unborn child was idiocy. But then there should never have been a law against it in the first place. Sometimes the gov't needs to stay out of the personal lives of its people. This is a case in point.
The government upheld a right already in place, the right of women to their own bodies, the same right everyone else has...
