But the trade deficit with Mexico is growing, so more money is leaving the country than coming in. Under your argument, America is contributing to Mexico, not the other way around.

 

All Trump has to do is accept the 1.6 billion that the bipartisan Senate bill offered, and the government will open.

The US is a net exporter of fossil fuel energy and is the number one oil producer in the world. Additionally Trump is putting pressure on the EU to buy LNG from the US instead of Russian natural gas transported by the corruptly financed pipeline. I suppose you don't want to believe that he wrote it, because it kind of undermines his current position to ask Americans to pay for it.

He essentially said that he would force Mexico to make a one-time payment of 5-10 billion to America. He hasn't taken a single step towards doing so, despite setting out a clear path that he said he would implement on "day one".
