I agree. When I was in business I would never hire a government employee because they had an easy life. However, they generally earned less than the private sector and whether or not they will get paid after the shutdown, it is a great hardship.

I think, if they show up to work, they will get paid. No one wants them to work for free, whether they get paid more or less than the private sector. If they don't show up, that's on them.

They better get paid, damnit. :)

I mean, we are paying for junkets to Florida, and all over the world for Nancy, which I think is utterly wrong. They do nothing, but hold up talks about any issue, and then they get a paid vacation to Hawaii or anywhere? No, nope, huh uh, no way. That **** needs to stop, now.

Look what we pay for Trump's sojourn to Mara Largo every week at a cost of 3.6 billion dollars a pop. Talk about waste! Hell, he campaigned that he would be in the Whitehouse on weekends working for the people and would not be playing any golf.
It is Trump who his holding up talks with his insistence on a wall that Mexico is not going to pay for.

the gubmint needs an overhaul. Trump can pay for his own trips, but he needs security. There's a high cost to that with any president. Nancy is nothing, compared to a leader of a nation, good or bad.

That last sentence is full of nothing important. Quit whining.

I would trust Nancy Pelosi any day in the oval office rather than Trump. Trump is a leader? Get real. He is the consummate dope and an embarrassment.
I know. My last sentence is full of the only thing of importance, so maybe you should stop reinventing history.

I think they'll quickly get another job or they can collect unemployment compensation. Is it a hardship? I'm not sure. It might be a blessing in disguise.

It does not reduce those numbers.

This would require a constitutional amendment.
Any illegal caught should be deported. Any child born US soil is a US citizen. So the parents can either choose to take their child with them, or leave them to the state.

No, no. That's why so many are against it. It's a waste of money. You've convinced me. ;)

It is easy to amend the constitution.

Don't folks go to jail for breaking the law? Why would they get off to bounce back again? If someone broke into your home while you were at work and stole all your possessions, wouldn't you want the police to capture them, then have them go to trial, then be sentenced when they are proven guilty with the evidence from your security camera? Maybe you'd like to buy more nice stuff and then invite them to come take that, too? Why not just give them what you buy so they can sell it and you can work for nothing? They deserve it. They didn't have enough to survive. The system treated them poorly. They were born without the benefit of a good father and mother had to become a prostitute to make ends meet. You should feel bad for them. YOU have it all. They don't. YOU were born into it. You didn't work and save so you could purchase nice things, they were given to you... no, you are racist.

Does that help you understand when I make up a story like that?

It's okay to have your opinion, but don't act like I'm stupid. I'm not an indoctrinated youngster.

I'd like to thank Pelosi and the Dems for another week off with pay. Monday is a holiday so maybe we'll go back to work Tues.

Oh wait, the Democrats refuse to meet, much less negotiate.

    NevermInd.

You know, I was just wondering why the states where these government workers have their jobs don't just pony up the money and collect it off the feds? Arizona gets the money for tourists coming to the grand canyon, but the fed gov't pays the workers wages? Why? See what I mean?

The money is guaranteed. You mean the states are so broke, even with gambling taxes and lotteries, they don't have the money to pay those folks wages till things straighten out. Something is wrong here. Something is really wrong here.

A wall would have no measurable effect on illegal immigration. Most illegals do not cross illegally.

And no, it most certainly is not easy to amend the constitution

It would stop 1/3 of illegals. That's well over 100,000 per year. Yeah, it's well worth it.

    It certainly is.

It's obvious you are believing your uni profs who indoctrinate you to communist ways. Look it up without using their guides and open your mind while reading. You will see that competition does and has made it less expensive. Unless you were alive then, it would be difficult to believe.

300,000 illegals do not cross the border at points where there is no wall

No, I know. It's more every year than that. It's somewhere around a million that come in from all places, not just the border with mehico.

No, it’s a moronic waste of tax payer funds.
