No wall is going to take 15 minutes to cross for someone who knows the wall is there and prepares to cross it.

The freaking Iron Curtain was crossable in less time and it had machine gun nests and minefields.

By your own admission, no wall will stop someone either. It will only delay them at best.

With young athletic men, that may be true. With women and children, it is more of a challenge.

But, tell me how those sensors are supposed to stop anyone or delay them.

Border Patrol stops them, wall or no wall. Sensors are meant for detection and tracking.

The money wasted building and maintaining a wall that would only delay people a few minutes would be better spent on more Border Patrol agents and more sensors.

Which requires chasing them down and catching them on our side of the border which makes it our problem on top of being dangerous.

Walls work. The border agents say they do and they have more knowledge than some pencil pusher in some office a thousand miles away.

Why did the democrats think they worked just a few years ago? Some newly acquired knowledge say they no longer work? If so, they haven't shared it. It is pure politics. Nothing more, nothing less.

Go find yourself a 30' tall wall and get after it. Come back and tell us how long it took for you to give up.

I am thinking back to the top 5 reasons as measured in frequency, this administration declared a need for this wall, deadly infectious diseases - not among them You may have a hard sell claiming that this declaration was designed for that purpose.

They work in areas like next to cities where response time for Border Patrol would be less than the time it takes to scale a wall.

Am I allowed to prepare first? Get a 35’ ladder? Or even just a grappling hook and a rope? Do I get to work with a team?

In other words, they delay. If they delay there, they delay everywhere and that is what walls do as opposed to sensors which don't delay them for a second.
You come across the ladder with a 35 foot ladder and the border patrol will watch you set it up against the wall and stop you. Not that many people can climb a rope any distance. Younger athletic types, but that is about it.

Wheelchair bound bariatric illegals will not get by in minutes. This mega-billion solution will force those to use port of entry.

You understand why response times in a city are different from response times in the middle of nowhere right?

Do you think Border Patrol will have personnel stationed at every foot of the border ready to catch anyone setting up a ladder? I can set up a ladder in less than a minute, be up in over in less than 5 minutes, and that’s with my back jacked up.

I realize that you don't have to put all your border agents in a city.
Someone carrying a thirty five foot ladder across the desert is pretty obvious. They don't have to wait for you to set it up.

You realize how many trucks drive around Mexican farms near the border? You know how easy it is to throw a disassembled ladder in the back of a truck and cover it with a tarp?

No. Do you? Most of the border is desert. There is not a lot of anything out there. Unless of course, you are talking about near cities where you have acknowledged that walls work.

Yes. I do know. I actually worked drug interdiction in the US Army.

There’s lots of tiny little farming villages and towns in that desert and scrubland.

That's not what the article I read in the most recent bar journal said but hey I'm sure you're a legal scholar writing to a group of legal scholars and know what you're talking about....

I have spent enough time in the area to know that there are not usually a lot of trucks running around out there.

They cite the Constitution: the spending clause. And, yes, Napolitano has cited case law as well.

School shootings are a real emergency. So will the consequences we will be experiencing because of Climate Change. A wall does not address any emergency. First of all because boarder security is not an emergency. And second, even if it were, a wall does not address it.

Trump's decision will be taken to court. And whatever they decide, Democrats win. If Trump's decision is stopped by the courts, Democrats win a political battle. If they don't stop it, the precedent is set... The sky's the limit
