For what it is worth, the bible asserts that jews came from somewhere other then the levant. Archeologists currently think that the early jewish tribes absorbed people from other cultures.

Those jewish tribes were largely expelled and or culturally cleansed by the romans when they defeated the third jewish revolt. Peoples that remained in this area largely converted to islam as muslims in turn conquered this area.

So, as we consider the indigeonous peoples of the levant after WWI... these people were well and truely mixed in origin.... comprising of arabs, greeks, romans Phoenicians, egyptians, european crusaders, byzantines , and both converted and unconverted jews, as well as all manner of other peoples who.had moved to this area over almost 2000 years.
