They were discussing this on Fox tonight with the conservative woman woman and the #metoo women and the host and the conservative woman were quoting from both the sailor and the nurses interviews on the matter. The sailor was actually with his finance' and they had just come out of a show where they had just announced the unconditional surrender of all German forces. War in Europe was over. He spotted the war nurse and they looked at each other with that "we don't have to go back it's over" and they kissed in CELEBRATION. And the nurses said the similar story, no where does she say it was an ASSAULT, it was a spur of the moment "we did it".
Yet the #metoo woman tried to make the case that she didn't REALLY know she was being assaulted and if she were as "aware" as woman are today she would not feel as she did when she did the interview.

Just absurd and the links to which the "progressive" left will go to. To take such an iconic, memorial, totally innocent celebration in our history where we all came to together in a common cause to a sexual assault is just sad.

It's quite funny because in the past (in fact even today), it was more religious fundamentalist which tended to commit such acts as attacking work of art.

It's very interesting to see that movement emerge, because we tended to see the wish to controle morality as a monopoly from religion. Yet, in the west, many progressive act in a totalitarian way (to controle the movies, the arts, the laws, the education, totalitarian in the sense they try to controle every aspect of the society, not that they open camps like the nazi or the communists).

That kiss definitely falls under the legal definition of sexual assault today (at the milder end of the spectrum but illegal all the same) and could even have done so at the time (however unlikely any conviction would be). It’s certainly morally questionable. Imagine what would have happened if it had been a black sailor or he’d kissed a random man in the same way.

That said, this was entirely the wrong time and method to make that point. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

 

In the interview mentioned in the show I cited the nurse said it was "wonderful".
