The Smollett hoax has deepened my distrust in the media.

As a rule I never condemn anybody's viewpoint unless it contains violence against other people; otherwise I realize that others may not believe as I do but I still respect their opinion as such.

 

That's a good way to look at it. I don't necessarily respect other people's opinions but I respect their right to their opinion.

Sounds like you just misinterpreted the media coverage. All I saw in the media was that he had reported being attacked by some pro Trumpers. I didn't see the media taking sides. That said, I don't watch Don Lemon. And I'll be he had something stupid to say about it.
