    Am just learning of this now. The report is that he did it because he was dissatisfied with his salary. No confirmation of that - but beyond disgusting if that is the case.

    Everyone in Chicago is a victim of his crime. Everyone who has actually suffered what he fraudulently claimed happened to him, is a victim of his crime. Everyone who voted for Trump, or supports him, is a victim. Every gay man is a victim.

    And we are all victims of the media's portrayal of this farce.

    I hope he is sentenced accordingly, and the media is held to account.

    I don't understand this. The two men he got to "attack him" were active participants and yet they were not charged. What am I missing?

    They are cooperating with the police. The courts should focus on the "masterminds" (not really) behind this hate crime against Trump and his supporters: Jussie and Fake News Media.

    Personally I had never seen or heard of Smollett before he faked this entire incident.From what they are reporting he was doing all of this to try and get a pay raise.One can only assume instead he will wind up unemployed with a criminal record.Some people are just too dumb for words.

    we will come to find out that he did it for all the right reasons... he will become the sacraficial lamb of the sjw left, throwing himself on his sword (among others it would appear) in the name of racial, sexual, and economic justice. his martyrdom will be the stuff of legend, and in 50 years or so, he will replace ben franklin on the $100 bill.

    there is a better chance of donald trump being invited to deliver the keynote at the next NAACP conference.

    Chicago Police superintendent Eddie Johnson called out celebrities, news commentators and even presidential candidates on Thursday for their decision to amplify coverage of what he said was the “phony attack” against “Empire” star Jussie Smollett.

    “The accusation within this phony attack received national attention for weeks,” Johnson told reporters during a press conference. “Celebrities, news commentators and even presidential candidates weighed in on something that was choreographed by an actor.

    “This announcement today recognized that ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career,” Johnson continued, adding that the star had staged the attack because he was unhappy with his salary on the Fox show.
