Abraham Lincoln is proof of that. A mere 38 percent selected him yet he rushed into a major war. Abe at Antietam.jpg

That's one of the worst analogies I've ever seen on this forum. And that says a lot.

"Major war"? Christ, it was the Civil War.

You plan to explain it to me and the forum is why.

The worst of all wars for the citizens of the USA. Actually it is a wonderful analogy. I do not accept blanket remarks in the context of the above. It confines my remarks to how only one person takes them.

Let's dismiss the war was civil. The South had to have the aim of defending itself from the invasion by Abe as a means to take over the entire nations government. It is as silly to see it as a civil war as to see the state of Utah when it was created as a civil war or New Mexico or Hawaii.

I love Pence. I'm not sure he has enough charisma to win.

Which is sad. I'm far more interested in people who're stoic and measured. Still water runs deep.

I agree. Trump Republicans in the Senate will protect Trump. After all, in the case of the Constitutional crisis caused by Trump's desire to get funding for his border wall, Trump Republicans in the Senate are willing to go along with Trump and limit the powers of the Senate. But when it comes to convicting Trump on impeachment charges, nah.

But Trump will not be re-elected in 2020. I seriously doubt he will even be the Republican nominee. At some point, between now and then, Republicans will come to their senses and get rid of this idiot. Pence will be a non-factor in all this.

However, there is the possibility that Trump will quit.

Poor Sandy.....the next two years will be especially hard for you. But when you're all hyped up about Trump losing to Communist light or Communist heavy, depending on who wins the Dim nomination, I can only imagine how hard it will be for you for the ensuing 4 more years.

The last election meltdown by the lib MSM won't be nothing compared to the next one.

    Please accept my condolences. :roflol::roflol::roflol:

Pence is unpopular. His home state couldn't wait to get rid of him. I'm not afraid of this scenario because it won't happen...a Pence presidency? LOL.

Yes, and their loyalty to Trump cost them dearly in the mid-terms. It is a very strange thing, they support him but they can't defend him. I don't get that. Here is what I mean. Care to take up the challenge? Anyone?

Trump had a really bad week ... again.

Cohen made things worse for Trump on at least three fronts: The hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, along with WikiLeaks and the Trump Tower Moscow development. Cohen produced a check for $35,000 that he said was a partial reimbursement for the payment to Daniels. He overheard a phone call between Roger Stone and Trump about WikiLeaks prior to an email dump.

Trump clearly thought his second summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un might be the one that produced measurable results on the denuclearization front. It didn't -- and Trump left with America and North Korea seemingly on different pages about why the talks broke down.

Trump was asked about North Korea's 18-month imprisonment of Warmbier, who died shortly after being returned to the United States. "(Kim) tells me that he didn't know about it and I will take him at his word," Trump said. Trump is still trying to live that down.

In a sign of weakness, Trump suspended two large-scale joint military exercises because, as the Defense Department put it, Pyongyang views the high-profile missile exercises as provocative. Under Trump, it appears the Pentagon has become sensitive to Pyongyang's feelings. Still another concession to Kim. Nothing has been accomplished insofar as denuclerization is concerned.

The New York Times reported Thursday night that Trump had ordered then-chief of staff John Kelly to get son-in-law Jared Kushner top-secret security clearance. Kelly disagreed with the decision -- and wrote a contemporaneous memo about it. So did White House counsel Donald McGahn and career intelligence officers.

On this thread there has been no attempt to defend Trump. On PF there has been no attempt to defend Trump. His fans have been too busy discussing OAC, socialism, Democrats, guns, and Medicare.

Trump Republicans had a gay, old time at CPAC, but not one Trump Republican has stepped up and tried to defend Trump on these issues.

I want a Republican not named Trump with experience in politics along with domestic and foreign relations to be elected President in 2020.

Electing a President on an OJT basis has gotten way out of hand. Hopefully, we learned our final lesson with Trump.

You, as usual, over estimate the impact and the relevance of Cohen's self serving testimony. Nothing he said is of any real legal consequence for Trump or anyone other than himself. Your desperate unreasoned hatred of Trump blinds you to the fact that Cohen's testimony was mostly exculpatory.

    Re. da' thread heading...

    - Pence is solid!
    - I think that he is one of the rare individuals that has his soul intact; unfettered by the 'political gristmill'
    - a man of character & morality
    - holds true to the 'conscience of his convictions' - despite the scurrilous blow back...

That being said, I want Trump in 2020! Not even an inkling of doubt.... :)

The left hates Mike Pence. The "green" left and the "feministas" hate him most passionately. In the wake of recent headlines: "Dems inch closer to impeachment" ... A couple of the late nite activists have paused to ponder, and come to dread, the prospect of Pence inheriting the presidency. I think DNC leadership would much prefer hurting Trump's chances of re election, as opposed to replacing him with Pence. The OP's question I believe, would be better directed towards liberals.
