More proof that Democrats want illegal immigration more than they care about gun violence?

Democrats this week approved legislation to require background checks for essentially all sales and transfers of firearms -- but rejected GOP-led efforts to amend the legislation to alert law enforcement authorities when gun buyers, including illegal immigrants, fail those background checks.

The House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of the bill 23-15, in a strict party-line vote, sending it to the House floor. If approved by the full House, the bill would be the most significant gun-control legislation approved by either chamber of Congress in at least a decade -- although it stands little chance of passage in the Senate, where Republicans command a slim majority.

The Senate will vote down any additional background checks.

Let's be clear on who is who

    Repubs stomped them on this.

26 Democrats joined them in helping to make sure illegal aliens can't get away with trying to illegally buy a gun.

The House voted Wednesday on H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019. The bill would expand background checks to include all gun sales, rather than just sales by licensed gun dealers as under current law.

Republicans in the minority countered with an amendment to require that federal officials notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement whenever a lawful or unlawful immigrant tried to illegally purchase a firearm. That measure, opposed by most Democrats, was voted down when the bill was still in the House Judiciary Committee.

When Democratic leadership brought H.R. 8 to the full floor for a vote, Republicans made a motion to recommit the bill with the ICE amendment, usually a last-ditch symbolic action taken by the minority party with little chance of success. But in a surprising development, the motion passed 220-209, with 26 Democrats joining the Republicans.

    lie.

the amendment was approved, and the Democrats approved the bill which includes the amendment that notifies ICE, the FBI, local and state police.

Every single Democratic in the House voted for the final bill, which included the ICE notification amendment. So wtf are you complaining about?

Only because they knew from the start that the bill will never make it past the senate.

The bill in question made it out of the house, now it goes to the senate where it will not pass.

Dems should have added an amendment banning abortion in the 9th month, then Republicans would be forced to support it

Kaz... How much more evident do we need it to be? They care more about regulating plastic straws, in California, and decriminalizing the purposeful and malicious spread of AIDS/HIV, more than they care about illegal immigration.

    Quite an ironic statement.

I have a friend of mine who after hours of talking with him on the phone, convinced him to not kill himself, turns out he was having unprotected sex with another guy who is HIV positive and in violation of Florida law never advised my friend of such, now my friend tested HIV positive.

The sad part is from what I was told they had one heck of a fight after the test and the guy admitted he knew he was positive but didn't care about spreading the virus.

I met the guy a few years back at a Christmas party and as normal for me struck up a conversation about firearms, that's when I discovered the guy is a hard core antigun liberal and a life long Democrat.

    Sadly, unsafe sex has consequences.
    At minimum, STDs.
