Yet you have provided zero links about China stopping construction. You made the claim, why can’t you provide evidence?

Are you a liar? Or are you just too much of a coward to admit you were talking out of your ass because you desperately wanted to defend Trump even if you had no idea if your statement was true?

LAV-25’s are amphibious. Why would they have to be delivered by LCM’s?

You act like the Marines would be facing a motor rifle division when they come ashore on these islands.

Wow...you made the claim it was ongoing and have provided no links showing anything has happened since July...in fact you posted a November NY Times piece showing the trump admin confronting China directly.

BS. We are no arming Ukraine. The Trump Administration allowed exactly one limited arms sale, and the right wing noise machine has been pretending that we are at Ukraine's side ever since. Trump even once suggested that Putin may have a legitimate claim on Ukraine. And the Trump Administration is ignoring sanctions passed by Congress, and actually gave a waiver to the brutal Russian gangster that Manafort owes money to.

China is building new bases contrary to your false claims.

Putin and Assad have a free hand, thanks to Trump. No one got punished. Trump drew a red line, launced cruise missles (after making sure the Russians wouldn't get hurt), and North Korea is not talking peace with anyone. Indeed, Kim spurned Trump's advances and is building more missiles. It is clearly only a matter of time before he launches another one. Trump won't do anything about it other than bluster.

Your attempt to rewrite the present to make Trump look less than the weak ineffective idiot he is pathetic.

The November article confirms they had begun construction on a new island base. Trump’s “direct confrontation” is clearly doing ****ing nothing.

You made the claim. You back it up. You won't do that, of course. Trumpster don't like facts. And you made up the claim anyway, as Trumpster often do!

The article highlights they are doing something...directly. I must have missed In the article where they said they were constructing a new one..sounded as if it was talking about or. That already existed

Although the AAV has some armor protection and can operate inland to a limited extent, it is not intended for use as an infantry combat vehicle. The Marines do have the LAV-25, Light Armored Vehicle-25, an eight-wheeled armored vehicle that carries a crew of three and six additional marines. The LAV-25 is armed with a 25 mm chain gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun but is not fully amphibious, as it cannot cross a surf zone and would get to the beach via some type of connector such as the Landing Craft, Air Cushioned (LCAC). The LAV-25 has been in service since 1983. According to the Marine Program Executive Office (PEO) Land Systems, the LAV is not employed as an armored personnel carrier and usually carries a four-person Marine scout/reconnaissance team in addition to its crew.3 In this regard, the MPC was viewed as necessary by Marine leadership for the transport and enhanced armor protection of Marine infantry forces...

Okay, they still have AAV-7’s and will have ACV’s in a couple years. And they can be put ashore via helicopter or Osprey. And since they would be operating under total air supremacy and any beach defenses would be long suppressed, so they can just bring in an LCAC.

The days of Normandy or Iwo Jima style contested landings are long over.

Doesn't explain why U.S. Marines are training for landing on a contested beach.

Because they still have Fulda ********* in charge of their training doctrine. It’s the same reason the Army still trains for bayonet charges.

When was the last bayonet charge ?

That's right, the British in Afghanistan.

U.S. Marines take bayonet training seriously, the U.S. Army not so much.

Wow one single bayonet charge. How many firefights without bayonet use has Afghanistan seen in the last 18 years? Would you say tens of thousands of hundreds of thousands?

So it’s a skill useful approximately 0.0000001% of the time.

    Hey @struth

Just making sure you saw this post. Is 4 days ago not current enough for you?

Were you lying when you said you would admit to being wrong?

Trump has put the Caliphate out of business just like he said he would. And now he is wrapping up other issues with the Syrian War. On the day Kurds celebrated Nowruz (the Persian new year) and Jews celebrated Purim (the defeat of the Persian who wanted to exterminate them), President Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and the Islamic State was defeated.

There is nothing sacrosact about the artificial borders created by the century-old Sykes-Picot Agreement. A more equitable division of the French mandate Syria will allow the Druze to be protected by the Israelis on the Golan and the Kurds to gain a homeland. Look for the Kurd's model government to secure human rights in contrast with the Islamist Iranians and Turks.

The Kurds joined Trump in efforts to prevent tyrants, terrorists, and thugs from attaining power internationally. They act as a hindering influence to the rise of violence promulgated by Hamas, Hezb'allah, al-Qaeda, and ISIS. The degrading of these forces is more likely to occur when allies work hand in glove, just as the Kurds worked with the Americans in Syria and Iraq.

It's time for America to recognize a Syrian Kurdistan now that ISIS has been crushed.

6 of the craziest bayonet charges in military history...-> https://www.wearethemighty.com/articles/bayonet-charges

The first night firefight (0-dark thirty) I was in, when the sun came up in the morning there were four dead NVA with in 20 feet of my position with fixed bayonets on their Chi-Com AK-47's.
