They should go on the Venezuelan diet. Meat is too expensive for them now, so they're vegetarians and 15 pounds thinner.

What does that have to do with anything?

The average American fatass needs to lose more than that.

That's true. I totally agree. We are way too soft. I have a buddy who was in the Army Rangers and he talked about getting 'stress timeouts' and **** like that. You think the Russians are doing that ****?

We have become soft and weak. Liberals and conservatives alike. The average grip strength of the American man is down 30% since only 1980. This is a real problem. Our military only has an advantage because of our superior tech.

Our infantry would get mopped up by many countries.

The idea is that, if you say it enough, it will become true. The left has been doing that for decades. Sometimes it works.

Blame the corporations for feeding the animals grains to make them fatter, and make us fatter as well, and for putting into the fast foods certain stimulants that make us hungrier so we'll eat more. Take a look at some videos before the 1970's and noticed how thin everyone was then.

That's funny, but that was ten years ago, and today it's more reflective of the Ukrainian army. The moral is so low, and drunkenness so rampant they began shooting at the nationalists. When that happens, a country is ready to collapse.

The Russian army began to fully modernize 7 years ago, and if you read the last part of Shoigu's speech, you'll know the kind of army we'll be up against.

It didn't help, but it's not the only reason. People have to have a reason to fight and we don't - so the moral is low. We haven't been attacked, we haven't been humiliated, we were never occupied so why would Americans want to fight? To go and kill innocent people? Come on, we're not a Nazi culture and we're not a terrorist culture - or at least we weren't..

In contrast Russia is attacked continuously through propaganda and subversive actions (I don't recall the number of spies caught this year, but it was in the hundreds). They're also attacked by destroying nations that befriend them - such as Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and now Venezuela.

There is nothing that unites people more than unjustified attacks, and it has always been Russia's greatest strength. Frankly I wouldn't mess with them.

Many things can destroy morale in an army

Constant attacks in the media undermine the spirit of the troops

Forcing soldiers to serve with homosexuels

Bad leadership as in a weak commander in chief (obama)

You have to give some credit to the Russians. Their economy is just 7% the size of the American economy, but they have a decent military. It's better than their economy would indicate.

I was thinking more of 1960/70. Do you know that at one time, we were the only nation with the luxury of considering thin attractive?

Yep, especially in ancient times. I read the Roman's considered plump beautiful. In a time where people were thin due to lack of food, having a little meat on the bones was a sign of wealth too.

If I read through this thread, then we have again the usual "clash" of the Pro-Russian Fraction ... which also often the "The US and the West are at everything and every fault Fration ... against the American Fraction which is often the "we are the best, most beautiful and funniest faction".

I am neither a fan of Putin and certainly not of Trump or his predecessor! I laugh about the stupid "anti west" chatter as well as about "evil rusky" chatter ...
I find this anti-West demeanor where the last scum like Assad and others get a halo just because they are against the West, just as detestable ... as the US arrogance of believing, the only one to decide what's right or wrong.

Also, I find the excitement in the West because of the occupation of the Crimea only hypocritical, because what is the difference in the end to the US attack on Iraq in 2003?
In Crimea, 60% of the population are Russians, 25% Ukrainians, 12% Tartars and 3% other ethnic groups! Sevastopol has been a mega important and major naval base for Russia since Peter the Great ... and Russia saw it all in danger, not without justification. And Iraq? The lie of WMD that Saddam still has and with which he threatened his neighbors ... although his own intelligence services denied it ... and militarily, Saddam had been castrated after 1991! What remains is the fact that he was a bloodthirsty bastard who was sitting on a lot of oil ... so no reason to attack without even attacking a dozen other similar bastards too ... but unfortunately are some of them puppets of American Mercy.

So Russia is upgrading and modernizing its forces and making them more powerful .... in short, as the headline says here, they are getting a radical upgrade.
Do the Russians have any reason to do so? Yes ... in terms of the threat situation as well as the technical need.
I realize, of course, that it will wake up "Cold War Dinosaurs" again and fuel it for the still-general hostility to Russia ... only a country like the US can complain, which by far has the largest military budget and many times spends on what Russia spends ... and what continues to maintain a threat scenario against Russia even after the end of the Cold War? No ... even though some American idiots and low brainer will not rest until Russia is destroyed and as dangerous as Kenya is in Africa!

Well ... the Russians can do and do at least the same as what the US did and does elsewhere ... or is there anyone who is surprised that others aside the US can do too? ;-)

I believe most of the hostility toward Russia lately is due to the Russian collusion conspiracy theory. Now that Lefties have to look elsewhere for impeachment, they will soon forget Russia and things will settle down.

Not really ... that started under Bush Junior!
The basic problem was and is that after the end of the USSR Russia was not really taken seriously, Russian interests were ultimately given a crap, the Russians were considered to be far inferior, and then Russia was also quite clearly understood behind the doors.
That worked out with Yeltsin so far ... but after Putin was in power no more. And it's also not true that Putin wanted to have a close partnership with the West on several occasions and was willing to work closely and more closely with us ... but we had the cold shoulder, also because the former Warscheuer Pact puppets are now all NATO members were and are historically hostile to Russia!

And then the West, with the US at the top, has begun to be arrogant in Russia's sphere of interest ... Georgia and Ukraine and there even before the Maidan!

Putin warned us clearly what would happen if we continue like that and Russia does not like it! But you laughed about it in the West at that time ... but not this year, eh?

Look at the hype that was when Russia intervened in Syria and on the side of Assad? What a bad Russia was said! Just ridiculous! Even Russia has its friends and its strategically important interests and Syria is its 60 years closest friend of Russia as Saudi Arabia of the USA! And of course, no one is talking about the laws of this regime ... or is worried that they are being heavily protected and supported by the United States!

To be honest, what is the difference between the occupation of Crimea and the US attack on Saddam back then? If one is evil, then the other is evil too ...

Why do you call Assad scum? Is it because that's what the propaganda networks are saying? The people in Syria call him the 'kind hearted' Assad which is certainly a far cry from the term 'scum'. Kind of reminds me of Vladimir Putin and how the media was demonizing him, when he was known for his integrity in Russia and the only bureaucrat in Saint Petersburg that never expected 'favors'.

The scum of course are the networks who calumniate for their own political expediency and self serving interests without moral qualms. To me calumny is the lowest of the low and equal to murder.

It may be impolite to answer a question with a counter question ... But:

Why are you defending Assad? Because he and his father and the whole regime have always been "anti wat" = they can only be good and not scum?
Do you know ... some more sense of reality and facts is sometimes good. I know that until today you call these ridiculous elections in Syria fair and totally democratically correct ... also because some trolls confirm that. Simple question: how many of the millions of refugees from Syria could vote? How many from the ISIS areas could vote? How many of the FSA leaders could be elected?

No, Jeanette ... he was a bastard and a bastard. But he is Russia's bastard, just as the US has its bastards and even the Chinese have their bastard with mad midget in NK. That's easy to accept!
This is Realpolitik and who here like you the one-sided propaganda expires, does neither itself, nor the truth something good ... as well as the people who believe the BS media in the West exclusively and all that is opponents to them like Assad rate as scum but these bastards like Saudi Arabie or to name one time another one, the bastard in the Philippines and his purges they support and call as friend, of course not!

    A correction here:

There was no occupation of Crimea by the Russians, only by the Ukrainians in the 1990's. Legally Crimea had its own government, and after receiving threats from the nationalists that they were going to do the same to them as they did to the Crimean protesters during the pogrom, the government in Sevastopol kicked out the Kiev appointed governor and held a referendum to unite with Russia for protection.

The Russian military stationed in Crimea were asked by the government to protect the people until a vote could be taken - which they did. To Russia's credit and the shock of the Pentagon, the Spetsnaz were so adept at their work, that they managed to secure the peninsula without any bloodshed - even though the Ukrainian army was there and there were organized militants ready to take over.

It’s probably more because of inactivity than diet. I consume over 4500 calories a day this time of year and lose weight.
