This is how communism creeps in. Class envy and destruction of society. They pretend to be harmless then try to get the people to turn over power to them....all for the "greater good" of course.

Then before you know it Stalin has murdered millions of his own people. Rinse, repeat.

What is up with that, anyway?

    Can Democrats not say "country"?

They complain about Russian attacks on our "Democracy". It's like they're trying to make some point. What is the point?

If you repeat the lie often enough people will begin to believe it...they want people to desire pure democracy.

First, it goes beyond subsidies. The idea that the US is a free trading economy abused by big bad foreigner is a myth. It has the worst WTO record for protectionist abuses.

Second, you continue to miss the point. We know that protectionism by the US is irrational. The optimal tariff, based on manipulating terms of trade, does not hold because of retaliation effects. We know, however, that protectionism by a developing country does make sense. Allowing the delivery of dynamic comparative advantage will maximise trade. It also has the gain of eliminating absolute advantage. Unfortunately the US (and the EU) are in the way and have maintained unfair trade between the 'rich north' and 'poor south'

No, that would be idiotic. First, comparative advantage reflects factor proportions. A capital abundant country has an advantage in a capital intensive industry. Second, even in microeconomic analysis it is clueless. Minimum wages are found to increase productivity.
