As the users of the internet grow farther apart and companies begin to exploit user data and discriminate against ideas, do you think a Bill Of Rights for the Internet is viable? Should the government protect users from data sales, discrimination and harassment? How much protection is too much protection?

I think one should be crafted but I am weary of giving the government too much power on the internet. Censorship is a very real reality and we should be protected from both censorship from the government that doesn't fully understand the internet and the Social Media leaders who want to craft their platform for particular users. The issue is very nuanced and it would be hard to craft a bill because of this . Naturally I am not stating that I would craft such a bill, just saying one should be at the least considered.

If you are for a bill, What would you like to see included? If your against it, Why?

I don’t see the point; What would it add that doesn’t already exist? Individual governments already have laws and regulations protecting citizens’ rights regardless of whether it involves the internet or not and there are already international treaties and agreements extending those principles across international borders, again, regardless of whether it involves the internet or not.

I think part of the problem is the concept that the internet is somehow fundamentally different and special, that a different set of rules and principles need to apply on-line. I don’t see why the rules should be any different, the only special focus needing to be on the technical and practical differences the technology brings, just as technology in other fields has impacted how legal principles are applied in practice.

No, because since the 14th amendment of the US constitution, all amendments have take away rights of the individual and before they limited the power of the government. Nothing indicates that any "internet bill of rights" would do anything less than restrict the individual as they are doing in the EU. Making it illegal to hurt some snowflakes' feelings and stifle free speech by anyone other than the government backed MSM.

It's complicated. The same well-funded propaganda artists who took over the mainstream media would love nothing better than to completely unfuse the internet with their one-sided, suffocating 'world-view'. And no matter how innocent or well-meaning any initiative is in the beginning, you can bet that the propaganda artists are not far behind....

I'd rather see internet data and information not be criminalized.

No, new restrictions simply give the government unnecessary control over thoughts and services. Rep. Ro Khanna (D), California, can't handle the Bill of Rights of the Constitution we have now. No way would I give him more power.
