I have a very strong standard for freedom of speech. If the speech would be legally permissible without the initial crime (ie: if you just yelled "Vote Trump" or whatever the speech in question happens to be), then thete should be no additional penalty for saying it in the commission of a crime.

I oppose all hate speech and hate crime laws on principle, without exception.

Spray painting "******s get out" on a city wall is not in any way a threat of imminent lawless action.

This is my problem with hate speech. It uses the criminal behaviour of the perp to prejudice people into using lax the standards on the speech.

Asset forefeiture law does much the same thing. You caught an undersized fish in a marine park therefore people can be convinced it is acceptable to confiscate the car, the house, etc.

Speech which causes fear is still permissible so long as it does not threaten imminent lawless action. This is why Communists can legally advocate for a violent overthrow of the 1% at some point in the future, but cannot stand up in a crowd and incite a riot.

So being so wrong, and having your worldview totally upended, took a real toll on you.

But no, I don't want any sort of rule to prevent people from being responsible for their own words. Ronstar made a bet, and he should at least admit he, and his worldview, were wrong and donate that 10 bucks to the forum. I also make a lot of predictions on this forum. Some are right and some are wrong. In fact, I post new years threads on my predictions and go back to them at the end of the year to check how I did. If I get some predictions wrong, I want to know why, not run from them as you did. So if you would like to resurrect old threads in which I've made totally incorrect and wrong predictions, you're welcome to do it. I would like to see where I got it wrong.
