Agreed...often repetition does not help. But when responding to some people (like you) you gotta give it your best...which usually requires some sort of repetition.

No problemo, though. I realize how difficult it is for American conservatives to come to grips with the truth about themselves.

In fact, I can't blame you.

So, at 82, I'm sure you are 'getting yours', and really don't care who all has to pay for everybody else, cause, you got yours.

Age doesn't give you wisdom, if it didn't exist in the first place.

So I will copy and paste and show your statement that I am a Conservative to a couple of people who will snort and laugh. Learn your mark. I believe the quote comes from the movie 'The Sting'.

    I don't believe so.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, to express that opinion as they see fit, and to freely associate with others like them.

Why would you being old 'bother me'? Life willing, I will be old some day too. But my view is obviously different than yours, since you willingly spout 'screw 'em I got mine' as a pejorative, when that is exactly what you are doing, learn the difference of those who give more than they take.

Good. I love it when people laugh. I laugh lots myself. Hope you do, too.

You are not my mark...and I am not yours.

We are two people talking in an Internet forum...in a political forum.

    Sometimes things get heated.

If you are not an American conservative...I truly apologize for my mistake. I mean that without reservation. I have had that same thing come my way...and I was not very very happy about it.

Parasitism is an evolutionary stable strategy in the animal world. Unfortunately, it works within the human species too. Here is an example dealing with birds:

    http://archive-srel.uga.edu/outreach/ecoviews/ecoview040829.htm

The cowbird lays its eggs in other birds' nests and lets the other bird do all the hard work of supplying food and shelter to the cowbird's young. This frees the cowbird to spend its energy laying more eggs instead of providing for its young.

Of course, in the human world, the cowbird would be seen as a victim and the other birds "gotta pay."

I HAVE ALWAYS GIVEN MORE THAN I TAKE.

Not sure of your point...but you don't make your points very clear.

The mantra of the typical American conservative on the Internet is a variation on, "I've got mine, screw you."

If you disagree...fine with me. But I STRONGLY disagree with you if you disagree with me on this.

And I said the poverty line is arbitrary. What does it matter if you are below the poverty line? Why did you tell us that? Are you expecting some kind of a badge of honor to wear on your lapel?

I am honestly and sincerely happy that you consider yourself so. Seriously.

Insults do not help your position.

You are wasting your time on this forum. You could be advocating where it may actually help. You know, as well as I know, that we are merely entertaining ourselves in this thread.

Again, broad insults don't carry the argument. In most cases, it is an indication that the insulter is losing the argument.

    Already explained that.

This will mean a huge tax bill for poor people who at this point pay no income taxes.

so raise the min wage to a living wage and they will not qualify for food stamps

if we want cheaper labor, it costs us in taxes for the food stamps, ect...

not at all, if no one pays taxes for any dollars earned under the poverty line (rich or poor alike)

a flat tax where everyone pays the same % for every dollar they earn over the poverty line is the only fair system

all income needs to be treated as income, no caps, everyone pays the same % across the board for every dollar earned over the poverty line

now I am sure the right would try to hurt the poor with a flat tax, but the left would have to fight them on that, if done right, a flat tax could work

Kids eat at school? And take huge portions? I've seen same here (mostly mondays), but I'm not sure if it's about being poor here. Alcoholism is big problem and parents don't make proper food - weekend is just for liquids - sad..

Our food look like this in schools. I've been in high schools kitchen (I'm chef, but now doing something else) and food is pretty much like this. Some students don't like much schools food, but it's mostly ok - as you can see, it's pretty basic, nothing special.

Disingenuous. Are you opposed to government helping people too young, too old, or too sick to care fir themselves?
You also won't stop me from having government tax you (yes, I would have the guys with guns come around to relieve you of your money should you resist) to pay for such people. Other folks, IMO, should have to work for their supper. Workfare, not welfare.
    Irrelevant.
You might consider spending your time loading ammo instead of lecturing the rest of us because we're going to continue taxing you to pay for helping those who can't help themselves.

You act like a little boy when you use ad hominem attacks instead of arguing your case. Insulting people you don't agree with is childish.

That's more a matter of abuse and neglect than it is a lack of available food.

A mountain of food at a food pantry down the street isn't going to do a hungry kid a bit of good if the kid's parents are too lazy, drunk, high, etc... to go get it, bring it home, and feed the kid.

It's easy to blame "The Man" for kids going hungry, but the fault for that lies much closer to home.

I mentioned it in response to a question YOU asked me.

Your question was: "Can you explain why you wouldn't go down to the homeless shelter and invite one of the poor to come share of your wealth? What would be the reasons you wouldn't do that? Do you care about those people or don't you?"

I initially thought it to be an ignorant question from an ignorant person...but I wanted to extend you the courtesy of a reply.

    Thank you.

If I ever need your help with that kind of thing...I will ask for it.

I am NOT wasting my time here. This brings me a lot of fun...that I am not able to enjoy on the golf course right now, because I hyperextended my knee...and the ****** thing hurts too much for me to play.

Could be. But obviously that is not happening here.

Yup...you've indicated that you have never had any money taken from you by the government at gunpoint...even though you initially suggested you had.

Lets put it this way... what you may have paid into the societal pools during your working years, will never equal what you receive in benefits if you live a normal life span. If you were fortunate to be able to support a spouse who did not work, but receives income from the societal pools upon your demise, the scales are completely tipped.

Bottom line is 'screw you I got mine' is not a mantra for anybody. Contributions to society, as I listed before, are handled differently by political position. Liberals want everybody to pony up, hand it to the government, and feel like they've done something good. The Conservatives may pony up (as a generalized statement)but it's to the collection plate on Sunday, or to local organizations for the most part. There is less concern for those 2,000 miles away, but greater concern, and assistance for those closer to home. It's the nature of the beast.

I believe a person should work for what they want, and no one owes them a thing. We all hit a rough patch, and temporary assistance over that patch is what a societal pool is for. Not for living on*. Not long term*. *Exception to those truly unable to provide for themselves by way of real physical disability or age.

Then we will need to STRONGLY disagree. You may encounter some who indicate it, but it is not the majority by any stretch of the imagination.
