That’s an interesting observation. Levin was one the lawyers representing the disgrace Attorney General Ed Meese, and Reagan. He was (and still is, to my knowledge), affiliated with an obscure right wing group with the grand title of Landmark Legal Foundation.

At the time, he and his group were arguing against the courts releasing the grand jury material in the Iran Contra scandal. So he has been to this rodeo before.

In the 2000’s Limbaugh incorporated. Levin into the small coterie of right wing talk radio hosts that he would force affiliates to take in order to get thi show. At that time, Limbaugh had the ratings and the money to do that.

Under Barr's guidance, George, the elder, pardoned everyone, so far charged, killing the investigation in its tracks. Trump is playing from the same playbook. He and all of his people lie to frustrate the investigation.

The Republicans, led by the elder Bush, persuaded the Iranians to hold the hostages until after Reagan became president - so as to damage Carter's chance of winning. In exchange, Reagan sold spare parts, for military equipment, to Iran. They hid the deal by selling the parts to Israel, who sold them to Iran, via an arms dealer. Reagan's people then took the profits and used them to buy weapons for the Contras, a right wing guerrilla group, trying to overthrow the Nicaragua government. An act specifically illegal under US law. The company planes used to fly the weapons to Nicaragua, brought back cocaine, which they sold, and used the profits to further fund their operations. This helped fuel the cocaine epidemic that exploded when Bush, the elder, was president. Seemingly everyone around Reagan was in on it. Even his daughter seems to have known something was up. Yet Reagan couldn't remember.
