If you don’t think we already hack, and if you don’t think we already meddle in other country’s elections, then you’re way behind. We(the USA) already do those things, and I wouldn’t be surprised if us doing that set off this particular meddling by the Russians. I, for one, wouldn’t be surprised at all.
Nor would I, but not my point, What could we do with their elections? as they seem rather corrupt already.
Buying ads, giving money to the opposition party etc., probably some other nefarious stuff as well, this is the government we are talking about. They aren’t some benevolent group of people or something. I don’t think Israel’s elections are corrupt but the last admin meddled in their election anyways.
Did the US hack Merkel's phone. Yes we can. And did. Did an open mic catch Obama telling the Russians to be patient, more would be forthcoming after he was reelected? Yes we can. And did. Did the CIA coordinate the assassination of Diem (all but Kennedy pulling the trigger himself)? Yes it did.
Obama knew all about it and just ignored it. What good is cyber defense when the president chooses to allow it to happen?

Obama had an obligation to keep the elections safe, and he didn't. Almost every country tries to interfere in others' elections. The US does it and Obama interfered in Israel's elections because he wanted to get rid of Netanyahu. He failed there too, but it was up to Israel to secure the integrity of their elections. You seem to have memory delete when it comes to the fact that DEMOCRATS interfered more in our elections than the Russians because they colluded with the Russians to get dirt on Trump using a foreign agent(Steele) and a disreputable company Fusion GPS in order to assure Hill's election. In doing so, they weaponized the FBI, the CIA, and the Justice Department to make it appear that Trump was colluding because they failed at that too because Trump won. However, instead of cutting their losses, they doubled down by insisting on an "investigation" when they knew there was no collusion, which burdened the American people for 2 years. During those 2 years of a fake investigation, Trump did his best to fulfill his campaign promises, even though he was being bombarded 24/7 with smears and stymied at every turn by Adult baby Democrats who have many anger issues and much bitterness that they still could have lost after they put so much effort into their evil and treasonous plot, AND it is still happening today. So, pardon me, if I blame the evildoers here who are the Democrats. This coverup is much worse than Watergate could have ever been. My advice is for them to grow up and put on their man pants and take responsibility, and do right by the American people. We are sick of their stupid "feelings" and whining, and want them to work on making America great again by fixing immigration and infrastructure for starters. The American people DESERVE it!
