I am glad that you are reading the Apocrypha as well. There are some statements in the Christian Bible that only make sense when compared with it. .

Mark 3:4 "And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace."

Ahab had seventy sons who lived together in Samaria. They were all killed at the same time.

There seems to be different versions of Joram`s death. You need a supercompiuter to analyze the fairy tale.

Turns out it was NOT a miss-print! It's a blatant contradiction found in many other English translations as well! Some Bibles have those 3 verses as Jehoram while others have it as Joram! That's the beauty of comparing translations on the Internet.

Now my appreciation for the NIV has greatly increased. Even the KJV got it wrong!

Meanwhile, my Indonesian Bible says there was no Jehoram but rather two people with the same name: Joram.

My NRSV Bible has yet again gotten names confused! In 2 Kings chapter 12 we read of the exploits of King Jehoash of Judah. But then in verse 19 his name abruptly changes to King Joash!

Then in verse 10 on chapter 13 we read of another King Jehoash of this time Israel but then his name changes back to Joash in following verses. But then in verse 25 his name again reverts to Jehoash!

Just like with Jehoram and Joram in Chapter 8, the names interchange with multiple people with the same name ruling different kingdoms. This is really giving me a headache!

I realize now that not only the NRSV got it wrong, but other more word for word translations like the KJV Bible and the NASB Bible got this adding on or omitting of the letters E and H confused. Only more thought for thought translations like the NIV Bible and the NLT Bible straightened out the confusion.

The manuscripts are DEEPLY flawed people!

I know there is no J in Hebrew, but replacing all the names with the letter J with the letter Y won't help me clear up this adding on or omitting of the following EH.

Try reading it in the 1535 Coverdale Bible = http://www.bibles-online.net/1535/OldTestament/12-2Kings/ (It was printed long after 1535 because it contains words that did not exist in 1535).

Bit confused on which one you think is correct, but I know the Hebrew script has it "Joram" all three times.
