what i find most interesting from the left is how they react when someone who is not the typical 'middle aged white rich racist right winger' disagrees with them. When i mention to them that i have been a democrat AND a latino immigrant (who came in here LEGALLY, under a H-1b work visa, then green card, then citizenship) they are STARTLED.. how can it BE? What is fitting here is that this fits quite nicely with the topic in this thread, how dumb the left has become. I used to support Bill Clinton and a fan of JFK but have become disgusted with what the democratic party has transformed into. Bill Clinton and JFK would be outcasts in today's democratic party and the inability of your kind to understand why people like me have moved will be your undoing, it's why Trump won in states he wasn't supposed to win. It's why more like me will turn and get Trump elected, again. When your party decides to go back to being moderate and focus on the real issues, i may switch. Given, sadly, there is no independent party or candidate (a real crime in this two party system), i have to pick and i have to say Trump is 100 times better than anyone on the left today.

 

If it were Bill Clinton, i probably would've supported Bill Clinton over Trump. Now, how does Bill Clinton fit in today's democratic party? he would be considered an extreme right winger. This is how bad it is.. JFK wasn't a big fan of the federal reserve and actually pushed for tax cuts. How would he be viewed today? an outcast..

My quite dark Italian-American skin tone meant that in deep south Texas I was always mistaken for a Mexican. Since most of my friends were Mexican growing up and today most of my neighbors are Hispanic-Americans; i.e., not all from Mexico by ancestry; I am just fine with that. But I can see and hear the hatred for Whites in the political screed of the average leftist posting on this forums system; and that's just wrong.

I and most of my neighbors are for immigration control -- and they even more than I -- since it's their blue collar wages jobs most at risk from illegals willing to work at rock bottom wages. So forth and so on. I too was a life long Democrat until 2008 when I finally realized just how insane the Left had become and that they had assumed effective control on my Party. So . . . it . . . goes.

There are many things I don't like about the GOP. There are many things I don't like about Trump.

I don't want to give them welfare or food stamps. But until their parents are found and deported I am perfectly fine with educating them. Hopefully in the future when the kids come back they will at least have somewhat of an education.

 

I have always leaned democrat but more of an independent to be honest. Trump to me is not right establishment, he's more of an independent who took over republican party.

Early on, post college i was more left than i would like to admit simply because i was somewhat brainwashed by edu system. In particular the American History class, it was all about how great F.D.R was and how the right didn't care about the poor etc... I don't recall anything positive mentioned of Reagan or any other conservative, conservative values seemed to be vilified. The rare exception was Lincoln, of course, but that was it. Of course, it never came up that KKK was originally on the left and that Jim Crow was a democratic party effort.

This combined with the fact that most college graduates are in debt and have no money, i definitely leaned left. I viewed all conservatives as racists who just cared about the millionaires and early on in my career i had something against rich people. Gladly, i developed something few have today, critical thinking skills. So i started challenging myself, forcing myself to actually listen to what the right was saying, are they just racist people who just care about the rich? I then started to watch and read conservative material. I soon, albeit slowly, realized how brainwashed i was. Most conservatives weren't racists and most rich got there by working extremely hard, taking risks and sacrificing personal relationships along the road to success.

As a legal immigrant who had to work hard and wait long for citizenship, i'm not okay with people just crossing over and politicians saying they will get citizenship. Not fair! Over the years, i got tired of the identity politics of the left and the hypocrisy. They are the most divisive by far yet blame the right, PROJECTION is what this is. They have no good policies, Clinton's core message was 'Vote for me, cause the other person is a racist, misogynist, bigot, loose cannon, sexual predator and yeah, his voters are deplorable.' Bill Clinton, they say, vehemently disagreed with this strategy but was told to shut up. I lost all respect for Hilary Clinton and it is no surprise she lost in all those states where she should've won. The left has abandoned the working class, the rust belt and have become anti-constitutionalists. Many on the left think our founding fathers were racists and history should be erased. The openly anti-white racist rhetoric is scary and as a latino immigrant i'm often an interloper, pretending to agree with my latino friends... i just avoid conflict with close friends and family but boy..

and what scares these leftists the most, is people like me... someone who used to be a democrat and happens to be a latino immigrant who supports trump over current cast of presidential hopefuls. The left prefers it when republicans are middle aged white racists... when it's a minority, especially a minority who switched parties, it's very very frightening... as they can't afford to lose too many like me.

 

My wife is a 12th generation Hispanic American from Colorado. I am a mix of Euro-whites, Mostly a ruddy German. I am far darker skinned than she is. Our two daughters look native American, and no doubt have allot of their heritage is from the Pueblo Indians. But culture wise, we're simply Americans.

Americans who respect free markets, the magic of Capitalism, free enterprise, and the goal of Dr. King's Dream.

They come in by the thousands claiming political asylum, then know they are released thanks to 'catch and release'. They have no basis to claim political asylum, 99% do it to seek a better job, not because they are being persecuted or brutalized by a regime. Latino immigrant. Did you come from Cuba? Across the country the trend is rather common. Most Hispanic immigrants tend to vote Democratic, which is a Catholic thing. Except Cubans. Most Cubans are descended from the corrupt families that turned Cuba in a gambling casino, who gave Castro the fuel to defeat them and run them out of the country. Or are you from Brazil? All the countries south of the US speak Spanish, except Brazilians. The term Hispanic would be sufficient but to accommodate Brazilians they have to use the more general, Latino. But then Italians and the French are also technically Latin.

who's a conservative? I agree with legalizing prostitution, agree that we should take climate change seriously but green deal is not solution and world isn't ending in 12 years. I'm not very religious at all but respect all religions. I don't agree with painting all rich people as bad, all big banks as bad, all religious people as evil.. i respect differences in opinion and 1st amendment. I believe in rule of law, border security, want illegal immigration controlled and hate identity politics and misdirection tactics. Instead of demonizing cops, let's do something about black on black crime (a much bigger issue than bad cops but left doesn't care). Instead of demonizing ICE agents, let's talk about immigration reform. I agree with healthcare that takes care of those most in need but don't agree with medicare for all. How about the weaponization of DOJ against a political rival? Russia collusion was a hoax from the beginning, bogus investigations run amok instead of focusing on real issues. Reparations? absolutely idiotic and disgraceful to even suggest it. Yeah, i have to pay blacks money for nothing i did wrong. I'm not a socialist and never will be. I agree with regulations but not overregulation and believe in a government that should work in tandem with private sector instead of always demonizing it. I believe in reasonable gun laws but to right to own a gun. I believe in constitution and that our framers were good men who devised a great system of government.
