You lived in tiny Napa yet never heard that SF has major trash problems and speaking of that, major problems with homeless living in the streets and using the sidewalks for toilets? Maybe your time in Napa blinded you. Narcotics needles all over the place. She ran to the press saying, Donald Trump hurt her widdle fweelings. Trump brought in staff who said she lied.

It would cost $12.7 billion to end homelessness in the San Francisco Bay region, a new report says

if you made so much money by age 30, how can a man of such accomplishment bear the slings and insults to the rich by Democrats?

Well there is no doubt about that. We call those Democratic party managed cities as is San Francisco.

    What?

Who made “so much money by age 30”?

It sure wasn’t Donald Trump. By that time, he was losing hundreds of millions a year.

Well, the House has certainly been trying. The House has passed over 200 bills this year. But the Republican-controlled Senate is blocking almost everything.

So you can see - the House is doing their job. Senate? Not so much.

The process you describe may be fine in theory, but it is idiotic in practice. There are three parts to the legislative equation: House, Senate and President. The best and most efficient way to pass legislation is to make sure that all three parts agree on the legislation before putting it through the process. Discussion amongst the three parties is not mandated by the constitution, but it is the only sensible way to achieve positive results.

I am sure you know that.

This is obviously false since Trump couldn't get anything passed by the House & Senate when they were both Republican. Trump is absolutely hated by the establishment Republican party for raining on their parade, so they have done less than nothing to cooperate with him other than rubber stamping his court appointees.

...and rightly so. I do as well. I hate seeing the federal government to anything for the sake of politics. Unfortunately it does it all the time.

Pelosi went into the meeting claiming she just wanted to get along and sign a bipartisan bill, yet on the day prior was accusing Trump, WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE MIND YOU, that he is covering up for "something". She doesn't know what he did wrong exactly, but why not call the president a criminal 1 day, say he should be impeached, then claim HE's the bad guy for walking out on a meeting because you're accusing him of B.S. crimes....just because.

I'd walk out on the 2 faced biotch too.

If those 200 bills had had any chance of passing, most of them wouldn't have made it through the House. The only reason Democrats are approving those bills is because they know they are DOA in the Senate. Mitch McConnell played the same game in the Senate, bringing AOC's Green New Deal up for a vote there. 42 of the Democrats plus socialist Bernie Sanders himself all voted "present" rather than vote for a bill they knew would hurt them back home. This is political grandstanding and virtue signaling by the House Democrats to pander to their base, but absolutely irrelevant to actually running the country. The Senate could just as easily pass 200 bills knowing they'd never be passed in the House, but Republicans aren't impressed by virtue signaling like Democrats are.

Hey - I don't disagree with that. I was responding to a poster who was saying the process is to pass a bill in the house, send it to the senate, send it to the president. He was describing that process in order to let Trump off the hook for walking out of a meeting. The poster was saying that discussion is not necessary.

Yeah, that's the process, and the Constitution doesn't say that the parties should discuss the legislation. But if they don't discuss it, things don't get done.

That is why Trump is a moron for walking out of a discussion. If he really wanted to "do infrastructure" (and in his ranting press conference he said he wanted to do it more than the Democrats), he would talk to them. As it is, he is the one who is crying and having a tantrum and refusing to talk. Snowflake in chief.

Which is irrelevant to the fact that the House and Senate do not need the President to pass legislation.
That is the job of Congress, an independent branch.

If you define "unethical, immoral, and despicable" as "ruling against Trump's interests," then sure.

Democrats won the 2018 election by historic margins specifically because the voters wanted someone to hold Trump accountable. If the Republicans had made even a token showing of doing such, then they might not have lost by such a large margin.

And two courts literally just ruled over the past week that Congress has the Constitutional authority and right to seek and pursue those investigations.

We are moving on from 2016. To 2018. And then to 2020.

I can't imagine the level of mental anguish that gets created between someone believing that "we elected trump to be a dealmaker" and "trump is excused from making any deals" at the exact same time.

That does not make the assertion false, it just means that Trump is really ****ing bad at being president. If he had pushed for policies that earned even the support of a few democrats, he could have passed a huge amount of bills.

Yes, they absolutely need the President. He has the bully pulpit. He can set the agenda. His approval within the party is paramount.

The House and the Senate derive their jobs from their constituents and to pass bills which are actively opposed by the President, when supporting the President is the primary reason that the constituency support their representative, is a death nail to their own political futures.

Put it another way: If the President supported a bill, then the Republican congressmen and senators can support that bill. And so if Trump were to support any legislation that got even a few democratic votes before 2018, then he could pass a bill. After 2018, he needs to support bills that have earned the support of a majority of Democrats. To date, that is roughly 250 bills. If he supports any of them, then they will get past the senate.

Republicans will have to offer very skeptical American voters a deal they cannot refuse to win 60 seats in the Senate.
As it stands now Pelosi needs to negotiate with the Republicans in the House - not Trump.

Any President who gives Congress the finger is standing with the American people.

“The poll also finds only 8 percent of Americans approve of how Congress is handling its job, with a meager 3 percent saying they “strongly approve.”
“The latest poll by THE ECONOMIST shows the entire Congress will be vulnerable in 2018., BY KYLE OLSON, SEPTEMBER 1, 2017,
