    "According
to a 2008 British Wikileaks dispatch, Iran executed between 4,000 to 6,000 gays
and lesbians between the start of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and 2008." (Iran executes
gay teenager in violation of international law - Jerusalem Post).

Iran is one of the few countries where it is still legal to execute people, including minors, just
for being homosexuals. According to the above quoted article, "Iran frequently executes gay
men for same-sex relations and frames the men for rape charges to justify its Islamic law
    application of lethel homophobia."

One particularly controversial case occurred in the northeastern city of Mashad, where on July
    19, 2005, 18 year-old Ayaz Marhoni and 16 year-old Mahmoud Asgari were publicly hanged.
The two had been arrested fourteen months earlier (when they were 16 and 14) and had been
beaten and tortured while incarcerated. When International attention was brought to the case,
Iran began claiming the two had raped a 13 year-old boy - a claim not made in any of the
original reports on the case. A spokesman for the British Gay rights group OutRage!, Peter
Tatchell, stated "This is just the latest barbarity by the Islamo-fascists in Iran. The entire
country is a gigantic prison, with Islamic rule sustained by detention without trial, torture and
    state-sanctioned murder."

In another case, gay teenager Hassan Afshar was hanged on July 18, 2016, at Arak Prison.
According to Lucas Grindley in the Advocate, August 5, 2016, "In this latest case, Afshar was
charged at age 17 with raping another boy. His family said it was consensual, which is sometimes a moot point. If the other boy hadn't called it "rape" instead of consensual sex,
he too could have faced the death penalty." Iran knows it plays better with the International
community to say it executed someone for "rape" rather than homosexuality.

A Wikinews article entitled 'Execution of two gays in Iran spurs controversy' says, "Those
found having homosexual sex in Iran may face death by either hanging, stoning, cutting
in half by a sword, or dropping from a tall building or cliff." Not mentioned was death by
beating. Iran regularly employs gangs of paramilitary thugs to do its dirty work. Gays are
often their targets. In the worst episode (that we know of) on May 23, 2007, a gang of
such thugs proweled through the Molavi Street section of Tehran, looking for "alvats"
(undersirables). In full view of the public they seized and beat to death 23 people they
suspected of being homosexuals, prostitutes or drug addicts. No one was ever punished
    for this incident.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gained World-wide ridicule when in 2007 at
Columbia University in New York he said, "In Iran, we don't have homosexuals like in
your country.... In Iran we do not have this phenomenom." He would have less ludicrously
inaccurate if he had said "We do not have any homosexuals LEFT in Iran."

Over the centuries how many people have been executed under the cross of god?

Not really relevant. How does past Christian misdeeds justify Muslims murdering Gays today? Christian excesses happened hundreds of years ago, Muslims are murdering people today.

I forget to mention that before Ayaz Marhoni and Mahmoud Asgari were hanged they were each given 228 lashes.

Muslim barbarism. Its astounding that liberals still dutifully fall in line with their leadership and continue to support these countries..

Alan Cantwell's book is listed as "descredited" by Wikipedia and other sources. It was self-published because no publisher would print it. Did you believe that the government was trying
to exterminate Gays back in the 1970s?

Dr Cantwell remained active and his views applauded: http://revolutiontelevision.net/video/aids-origin/

Using the same reasoning it could be said the its interesting how left-wingers are so interested in Gay rights here, but not seem to care about Gays being hanged in Iran or dropped
off rooftops by ISIS. The same could be said about left-wing indifference to the oppression of women in Muslim countries. Cantwell's views may by appauled by left-wingers on 'revolutiontv'
but everyone else seems to think his views are way out-there. And something alledged to have happened fifty years ago is not exactly a good arguement about people's attitues today.

They show the same hypocrisy for women. Pretend to care about women's rights while sanctioning the murder of millions of unborn women. Lefties believe in rights... just not for everybody.

NO to females in the womb
NO to gays in the ME

And abortion? How do feel about that? Merely pointing out that turning a blind eye to ME atrocities against gays (and women) isnt the lefts only hypocrisy. Owning a gun doesnt make you exempt.

How many in the last hundred century?

How does pointing to the behaviour of Christians hundreds of years ago help the thousands of gays being persecuted by Muslims today?

Only ill-informed people think that the gay community hasn't banded together to help get gays out of the middle east. You no nothing but how to vomit right-wing rhetoric as if it applies to all people. Educate yourself.

How does conservative views that try and marginalize gay people in this country not make it more dangerous for gay people in other countries? If Muslims in other countries can point to US and say, "Look, they try can try to fire gay people from their jobs, strip them of their rank and keep them from marrying in the US, we must be right to persecute them here ...". That wasn't hundreds of years ago, it was ten.

Yes, because America refusing to give gays special victim status is the reason why Muslims are slaughtering gay people.

My eyes just rolled out of my head.

When someone wants to have an intelligent conversation about how the west can best impact other countries to improve their human rights treatment of the LBGT communities throughout the world, without some other agenda being behind their interest, let me know. I'd be happy to discuss practical and pragmatic methods to improve their lives and discourage state sponsored or tolerated persecution.

But I will not sit here and listen to you guys play partisan games on a serious issue.

No - your treating gay people as lesser human beings is what gives people a green light to mistreat them. The fact that you view equal rights as "special" puts you in a category that is right there with Muslims throwing gay people off roofs - you want to do it, but we have laws here preventing it.

I have yet to hear or see any American lib say gay bashing overseas is a good idea. Please supply proof that you have seen or heard of any such thing. By contrast a new thread appeared on this forum today by right wingers engaging in gay bashing. No surprise given their bigotry.

Further, Muslim women do not feel oppressed by their religion since Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world with the VAST majority of new converts being female.

As for Dr Cantwell, he is also respected for his research on cancer.

Just a reminder that it was your Republican party that voted as it did on Roe v Wade while your hero Republican Bush started two wars in the ME that killed hundreds of thousands.

I don’t know but add them to the number who have been tortured by the church , the number forced to endure an agonising death and the concrete implications of a doctrine that preaches redemption through suffering begins to reveal it’s obscene nature. Shall we all now meditate upon the nature of the so called Eucharist?
