If some of the things I say here will sound like criticisms of President Trump (I'm now saying his name!), understand that old habits die hard. I originally stated (in other threads) that after 2 years if Trump is still in office and certain conditions are met, I'd re-think my politics. Well the two conditions (no economic crash and no new foreign war) were met so here we are. I said I would re-think my opinion on January 21st but the government shutdown delayed that. I couldn't see myself approving the job he is doing while those poor workers were missing paychecks to make ends meet. His management skills are beyond my comprehension to see how they work, but if they work all the better. You will forgive me if I do not see this current state of the economy lasting very long as Trump seems to think only in the short term. In an ironic manner, I approve of how he has gotten more people BOTH progressive and conservative to participate in the political process. I'm not sure about his foreign policy as I view them as a mix of good and bad. However, I will give him praise in one thing: On his watch ISIL no longer hold any territory to call itself a caliphate. Would I vote for him IF I were an American? At this point I'm open to it but undecided. It would help if Trump gave a detailed long term plan for the economy or did something for the environment. But if the state of the economy stays as it is and the Democrats provide no better alternative (another Clinton) and there are no foreign military interventions until election day, yes I hypothetically could see myself voting for him. Understand that my approval is conditional to continuing trends. It will drop like a rock the moment the stock market crashes. I still won't listen to him on TV as I find his personality unbearable. But that's just his personality. If his policies work then I have no real criticism. So I say to Independent conservatives, Republicans, libertarians and any other right leaning person; this is the best you can get out of a left leaning person.
I never expect a left leaving person to support the president. I couldn't get behind Obama. But we don't have to agree with one another in order to agree about one or two things.
Why is it I always feel that disaster is just around the corner? I feel any day the economy could crash or that there will be military intervention in Iran. While I support the President, I hope that by January 20th next year, my support will be more solid. But until disaster strikes, I'll admit it: no criticism I say will stick. So I will say none.
What policies are they then? Given his absurd position on climate change, the Green in your name must just refer to the colour.

I didn't vote for him last election (johnson) but my spouse did. I'm much more likely to vote for him this time around but I'm not so sure on the spouse. As a person I still can't stand him but I like his policies.
