The direction of causation is likely the other direction from what you think. A state like Mississippi doesn't have the money to be spending on liberal things.

To a liberal, there's an endless supply of money to spend.

It is our primary welfare program to assist the poor and it is being diverted to fake right wing religious causes and organizations in other words GRAFT!!

Since the current TANF legislation was passed in 1996 governors and state legislatures have become increasingly creative in funding state pet projects with funds meant to help uplift the poorest in our society.It is wide spread abuse occurring in most states.People curse all the money being spent on the poor when 8n fact it is not.The funds are appropriated by congress to aid the poor but then they are miss appropriated by the states to fund everything but the aid to the poor.

 

Increasingly yes, I know many left wing Christians who have left their Churches in disgust recently. Catholics in particular are fed up with how the priests rail against abortion and say nothing about clergy who rape little boys.

And they're largely poor because of Republican policies. High tech companies need an educated populace, both as workers and customers. Few educated people want to bring their kids up in a place where the government requires Creationism be taught and diverts STEM programs funding to abstinence only sex ed and education in general funding to enforcement of laws that make families have children they don't want. Conservatives make a great fetish about how they are hardheaded and practical but it is a truism that where they run things the area is almost invariably poor and backward while liberal areas have large and prosperous tax bases that that are called upon to bail conservatives out.
