Truth be told, there's more I like to Sanders over Biden (and its not just the "free everything" gimmick) but I'm one of those democrats who ends up supporting whomever gets or is closest to getting the nomination, for the best interest of the country. I did it in 2016, and will again in 2020.

A good president doesn't use the bully pulpit. FDR didn't, Lincoln didn't, even Clinton didn't, someone in general doesn't use the bully pulpit unless they don't know how to come to the table like a adult and seal the deal. You're right, I like Biden because he is a decent person and yes, we need decency back in the White House right now. Trump is the total opposite of it, and shame is on those who thinks he should be able to act like an animal as long as it gets them their "results." Think about this for a second. In the eight years we had of Obama, Obama never acted as unhinged as Trump behavior-wise.

I saw Biden make his announcement speech in Pittsburgh about a month ago. He spoke about the importance of unions and coming together, using the tragic synagogue event in the city last fall as an example. If you like the anarchic character Trump is, fine but don't trash America's reputation over it. America is not a business, and it can't be run like a business. Trump is a experiment, not a reason to have more people like him. There's a ****-ton I could go into that I disagree about that McCain did, but McCain was a Republican I could respect because he didn't play into people's false caricatures as to who others are, like that woman in 2008 who said Obama was a Muslim, with no decency, and I'm willing to bet you that woman voted for Trump.

 

I agree that voters are more concerned about policy and issues that affect them directly. Trump is not addressing their real concerns nor was my previous post meant to support him. But biden is not the answer either. He is not a progressive and will never fight for the policies that the democratic base want. He will not fight for medicare for all. He will not end the wars overseas. He will not end terrible trade deals that exploit workers. He will not hold wall street accountable the next time they crash our economy. Biden is a whore for anyone who will fund his campaign. Biden, like trump is a symptom of a much larger problem in our political system. This idea that we have to elect the less crappy candidate is ghe reason why trump got elected in the first place. Its not about purity tests or who is flawless. It should be who has the better message that address the needs and concerns of the country and will they actually fight for what they campaigned on?

Biden is none of that. Instead people like balto are more concerned about whether or not a person said a naughty word.

 

OK...Joe Biden has never been right about anything according to General McChrystal, Obama's former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Obama's former Director of the CIA Leon Panetta.

A decent president makes America great, at home and on the world stage. Trump fails to meet that standard. What's wrong with green energy? It's not the early 20th century anymore, coal is dying. Even if everyone drove hybrids, that would be better. I don't fear taxes, and certainly the rich don't because the tax laws are written in favor of them. Why should a woman have to give birth to a rapists baby? Truth is, she shouldn't. Pro life extremism is on display in the South right now. And why shouldn't Amazon be taxed in a way they can't simply be written off? Obviously Amazon was ready to if they were about to settle in New York.

I get it, Obama wasn't a saint. And I don't believe he was a saint. These are some of the shortcomings Biden will have to answer for, and that will be the ultimate test of his candidacy. Obama did save the automotive industry, btw. And the economy was also beginning to improve before Trump got to office, you can take a look for yourself at the charts. People like Edward Snowden and Julian Assange should be jailed, and not see the light of day ever again. So, I agreed with Obama when he punished whistle blowers. Top secret government information should never be made public, period. Whether its the NSA or other government agencies.

Trump has brought the worst out in people, in our country. I want that to stop. He hasn't created a following, he's created a cult. And psychologists from different institutions are coming out to say that, that's not just my belief. A good president doesn't divide people, Trump has done that since day one.
