Rep Cortez is entitled to her opinion. Our elected officials have a habit of making rebarbative comments in front of cameras. Usually, it’s a “look at me look at me” speech.

Not sure where you came up with that definition but it is absolutely false.

 

Taking money out of elections essentially means helping those in power retain their power and keeping outsiders out. It is about maintaining the status quo.

 

If all this is true would you be okay with US Forces entering these troubled countries, establishing order, training the police, ridding the country of corrupt politicians and bureaucracies, changing the Napoleonic laws, and creating a Constitution (with a Bill of Rights) similar to the US?

The problem there is that the present situation may exist because we tried to do that already, and then pulled out. Partly due to pressure against imperialism, both abroad and at home, but mainly because of cost. Nation building is both highly controversial and outrageously expensive, especially when it's done by secret death squads.

 

No nation building for me. Then we're responsible for them for the next 50 years.

 

It is that darn college education. Filled my head full of all kinds of fun facts. Here is a fun exercise that you can try. Look at all the legislation that Republicans push and pass and compare it to the legislation that Democrats push and pass. Or look at the rulings by the Supreme Court Justices. Consistently the Republicans and right wing judges side with the powerful and the wealthy. Consistently Democrats are siding with the people, or the individual against the powerful.

 

What kind of twisted logic is that.

So concentration camps didn't originate in America, and they certainly aren't unique to America.

Why do you think that it is, that while Democratic leaders are calling for consumer protections, Republicans are calling for limitations on the ability of wronged consumers to sue the companies that have wronged them.

 

Because lawyers are in the pocket of your party, they are huge contributors. Those massive awards for often frivolous lawsuits are ultimately paid for by consumers.

 

Apparently you know nothing about concentration camps. Auschwitz had 4 crematoriums capable of burning over 800 corpses per day. They also had several gas chambers where over 1 million jews were killed.

These platitudes and partisan talking points mean nothing.

In the while scheme of the world, central and south America are about average.

No other countries simply allow people to walk across the border for a better life, without process and law. Doing so for political objectives is disgusting.

They are economic refugees leaving countries whose economies have been the same for decades, but have suddenly decided they have a right to our country and bypass our laws.

Should we just open the borders up? Anybody who wants in just walks right in?

 

We did before, and we became the richest and most powerful nation on Earth

 

What resources is he talking about? Resources to help the immigrants here or resources to fix their home nations?. I am not against either one.

Anyone who says Open Borders is not a viable solution has simply not studied the history of the United States at all.
