You've actually proven nothing, you'd just made fantastical claims, that ignore reality

It didn’t do anything to deal with it. That’s why it’s more than doubled since then.

You obviously continue to ignore the law, it's easy to read...I cited it for you....or a link to a summary, that can take you to the law itself. I also clearly highlighted the reason we actually have larger numbers then prior to the passage....we actually have enforcement, to record the numbers. It's really that not novel of a concept

I read it. I also can read that illegal immigration more than doubled since then, hence it didn’t do anything to stop illegal immigration. This is very basic stuff to understand.

Maybe they should have simply left it legal for employers to knowingly hire illegals.

Of course our booming economy makes America more appealing to illegals, and the economy has been booming under Trump.

Our booming economy, the Democrats' well publicized resistance to Trump and border security and law enforcement, and the common knowledge that a) our border barriers and defenses are woefully inadequate and b) our immigration laws are often ignored and/or virtually impossible to enforce, and c) "asylum" and/or "anchor baby" is your meal ticket ---- these things have all contributed to the exacerbation of the illegal immigration problem.

But honestly, I don't care "why" they want to illegally enter our country. I care that we improve border security and reform both the immigration process and the asylum process, so that no matter how much they "want" to come here, it won't do them any good.

How many pregnant illegals would still come if they knew their baby would be just as illegal as they are, even if it was born here? Or if they knew their anchor baby would never ever be eligible for any form of welfare?

How many illegals would still trek across Mexico from other countries to claim "asylum" in the US, if they knew they'd be turned back to seek asylum in Mexico?

How many illegals would try to sneak across the border if they knew they were almost guaranteed to be either physically blocked (ie wall) or caught (ie improved security and/or increased manpower)?

How many illegals would come here if they knew they would never ever be eligible for welfare if they entered illegally?

Let our economy keep booming. It's not like we're going to intentionally crash the economy back to Obama era #'s just to deter illegal immigration. The above ideas would work a lot better, and our improved economy could keep on keeping on.

Maybe they should have done something to address illegal immigration, instead of letting it double.

As Pelosi said, there is no crisis on our border, thus there is no reason to entertain her proposal.

In the meantime, Trump and McConnell should tell her to send them a bill that eliminates the incentives responsible for creating the crisis that Democrats have manufactured.

Literally, the president's unilateral emergency powers are for situations in which congress does not have the opportunity to act. The fact the congress is making a vote on this issue does not negate that. We don't live in a despotism, we live in a republic, and as such no funding for such projects should be passed without congressional approval

Trump shut down the government for Border Wall Funding ( that he campaigned on Mexico paying for ) ............ then caved

Trump cut funding to countries of origins ... thus increasing immigrants coming to USA

Pelosi border wall Funding has nothing to do with Trumps wall

Trump didn’t shut anything down, Mitch McConnell did. They didn’t even trust him enough to do that properly.

"Pelosi claimed legislation was in the works to address the immigration crisis but said there's no point in enforcing existing law within the boundaries of the United States.

"We have legislation to go forward to address those needs, but in terms of interior enforcement, what is– what’s the point?" she added."

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/pelosi-illegal-immigration-deportation-trump

"What's the point"? What is the point of enforcing our laws? Umm...... because if we don't enforce our laws, what good are our laws? And enforcing our laws could be a deterrent to others thinking of breaking the same laws?

Pelosi is losing it. I wonder which other laws she thinks we should just arbitrarily not bother to enforce, because "what's the point"....

They selectively enforce the law, for their personal political benefit.

It is not to benefit Americans-including our own homeless.

That definitely did not happen, especially for the notion of declaring a national emergency to unilaterally pass one of the biggest infrastructure/imminent domain projects in US history that congress already voted no on.
