To the friends of free speech here: don't count on Andy Ngo getting justice in the courts of Oregon, especially in a jury trial.

If you were Black in the American South, within my lifetime, you did not get justice in the courts, especially if it was a jury trial with an all-white jury. Thank God we've moved past that (to the great disappointment of the Hard Left). Now, white racists who murder Black people have a reasonable chance of finding justice ... and in the South, that can mean a one-way ticket to Old Sparky or its equivalent, as these gentlemen, and this man, found out the hard way. (If you're going to murder someone, pick a nice liberal state which has abolished the death penalty.)

But although Southern whites have been dragged a long way into civilization, don't think they are the only people who, on a jury, will let their political/racial sympathies override the evidence. If the defendents get a smart lawyer, he will give the jury all the rationalizations they need to pretend that there is a 'reasonable doubt' which prevents them from finding the criminals guilty. A video of the defendent smashing the head of the victim? Well, everyone knows how easy it is to fake a video! Although OJ Simpson was obviously guilty of murdering two white people, his (majority Black) jury let him walk -- and most American Blacks, in Los Angeles at least, approved of this, although as time has passed, to their credit, most Black people in America now believe he was guilty.

The desire to live in a law-governed society, where we are all equal before the law and have its protection, is a very powerful one: over time it can override the also-powerful appeals of political animosity, racial awareness, etc. It's a precious conquest of civilization and it's now paid lip-service to almost everywhere in the world. Even despotisms have to put on the mask of equal justice, and there is a tendency for the mask to grow into the face.

The illegal immigrant criminal who shot and killed a white woman in San Francisco was cleared by the San Francisco jury of charges of murder and manslaughter (but they did find him guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm -- those being simple matters of fact which even San Francisco liberals apparently couldn't rationalize away).

But my money is on an Oregon jury giving at most a slap on the wrist to the anti-Fa criminals, if they ever find themselves in court.

The election of Donald Trump has brought out the worst in some of his base. Conservatives who do not speak out against it are complicit in it. Liberals who use it as an excuse to justify similar or worse actions on their side are also complicit in it.

Note that there is a distinction between encouraging people to attack reporters, or members of the opposition who are just protesting peacefully, and disgraceful personal behavior, especially if it was in the past.

Trump is crude, Bill Clinton was smooth. Both are of the same type, actually very very common in the past among men who possessed power, on both sides of the political spectrum.
