Buffet once commented that he pays less in tax as a percentage than his secretary.

That's not the point - and has nothing to do with the point.

Not at all. That's like saying that because food is offered on a private market only the rich can eat. In a free market for security, anyone can buy whatever security services they want. They could form a co-op and buy services as a group or hire an individual body guard. Landlords could offer residential security as part of their rental agreements. Businesses could (and already do to a great extent) employ private security to protect their property and their customers on their premises. The real difference would be that the service providers would be accountable directly to their clients, unlike the publicly provided police "service" that is completely unaccountable to the public or any individual citizen.

Yes, but his secretary makes a salary in the $200-500k range. It's not like he's talking about the average secretary in the U.S. who makes about $33k a year. His secretary is part of the top 10% of incomes in the country.

He did, in fact. It is also usually ignored that he still pays around a thousand times more in taxes than his secretary..... But why quibble about a couple hundred million here or there....

Not sure how that changes the fact that he pays less than she does as a percentage. There is a difference between making 200K a year and a billion a year.

And ? How does that change the fact that what I said was true ?

Regardless .. if you would like an opinion - rather than me just stating a fact (and you posting a link that shows my fact was true and somehow yet are still in denial of that fact) Income is income - just because someone does not work for the income they earn - does not mean they should not be taxed on that income at the same rate as everyone else.

There - now you have something that you can legitimately debate.

To your question - because it is a couple hundred million here or there that someone else has to pay - someone will less ability to pay - who is paying a higher percent of the little income they have to subsidize billionaires.

To your comment - what is also usually ignored (but not by Buffet) is that he makes 1000 times more - and also benefits from the things that taxes pay for 1000 times more.

SOMETHING has to be done to redistribute billions and billions that the working class should have shared fairly with the rich.

Why do some people think they are entitled to other people's money?

How much of our nation's wealth do a very few people have to have before you will admit that part of that rightfully belongs to the rest of us?

Never. It's not a zero sum game.

Just because someone has more money than you doesn't mean its the reason you have less.

Good. Billionaires should pay a higher tax on their "ordinary" income.

That isn't the discussion though here though

Rich people use a disproportionate share of society's efforts and expenses. Practically all of police strength and resources exists mainly to protect wealthy people's wealth and property. You don't see it because it's deterrence not actual work. The same applies to businesses and the courts. We all benefit from it but rich people benefit much more.

Even Adam Smith said the rich people should be taxed more

The law is way more involved than just "security services" which the police to NOT provide anywhere which makes your deflection even more ludicrous.

How will individuals accused of a crime under "private law" be able to defend themselves when they can't afford a lawyer?

Why don't you ask the wealthy since they believe that they are entitled to other people's money in the form of tax cuts?

No, the real sadness is their demand to be robbed by the government. Think about it, there’s is no law prohibiting them from giving the Treasury more money, but they’re demanding a law to force them to. It’s sick twisted nonsense. It’s only purpose is to placate the envious, and bribe the masses.

In essence, ”Please steal my money; I can't stop myself from being exceedingly successful.

So your answer is.. you're jealous? Because Buffet is stilly paying hundreds of millions in taxes every year. That still means that even though he isn't paying 2x or 3x those hundreds of millions, he is in fact, still paying what he does. Your qualifier, "less ability to pay", is BS. Your idea here is what? everyone then must be the same? No one could excel or do better? hmm.. So what would make you happy? everyone hoarding their wealth and not allowing it back into markets because they fear the tax penalty? Do you suppose that would make your life personally better? You could, if you wanted, move somewhere where that is the case. I bet, likely, you wouldn't like it.
