Read the sentences around the one you think agrees with you next time.The deductibles went up due to the mandatory policy provision in Obamacare. I had never seen or heard of rate jumps like this under a private health care system. This is what happens when the government gets involved with incentives. The price of education similarly priced itself out of any reasonable market value after government intervention through incentive. In this instance, people were forced to buy a policy with a bunch of crap they didn't need, and since they were forced to buy it, there was no reason to keep deductibles low.

You went to the ER for a sprained ankle?!! Did you think you were dying? I don't think that is how much an ER visit costs, I assumed you were a sane human being and went to your GP with what is obviously a non emergency. Do you go to the ER for the flu as well? Are you that guy? If you are, just know that there is no cure for the flu and nothing your ER can do for you unless you are dying. Sometimes they give you antibiotics to shut you up, even though the flu is a virus and antibiotics do nothing to help. Now they mostly give you tamaflu which is a bunch of nothing designed to get you out of the office feeling like you were heard. Seriously read the studies, "may decrease the duration of your flu by 24 hours"...may...by 24 hours. Similarly, a sprained ankle is not a life threatening emergency, but a minor annoyance that I have seen high school cheerleaders just sort of walk off for the most part. Hardly an emergency. Abuse of the ER policy that does not allow the hospital to turn a patient away no mater how frivolous their symptoms, is part of why health care is so expensive for those of us that pay for it. So before you go next time, just remember the "E" in ER stands for "emergency".

 

Even as recently as a few months ago, I would have agreed with you. I really think that there are some die hard true believers out there though. I recently heard someone say that the progressives not only live in a bubble, but see themselves as the moderates within that bubble and society.

If you look at their actions through that lens, they do make more sense. Not a lot of sense maybe, but more. Like how can they simultaneously seek to censor conservatives off social media, while justifying actually breaking the law with things like calls to violence and so forth, on social media? Because they actually believe that everyone that disagrees with them is doing so because they have the worst possible motive. That is why they always talk of dog whistles and act like they have secret progressive decoder rings, because they can see your motivation. If their opinions are what is good, fair, and nice, and you are against their opinions, you can only be a bad guy. What other reason could you have? If you endorse drilling, it is not for energy independence or to create jobs, it is because you are a fascist dick that wants to destroy the duck-billed platypus habitat or whatever, for your corporate masters.
Similarly, if you are against identity politics then you are against the modern solution to past injustices. There is only one reason to do that because we live in a binary universe. You are a 1 or a 0. Ergo, you hate black, trans, gay, whatever whatever. If you won't supplicate, then you must want to dominate. They have spent the last 30 years trying to paint themselves as the party that cares about oppressed people, in a binary universe what does that make the other parties?

 

Or try being the only white person in a place known for its dislike of whitey.
