In 2014, Obama gave an immigration address from the White House, in which he said:

We are a nation of laws. Undocumented workers broke our immigration laws, and I believe that they must be held accountable, especially those who may be dangerous. That’s why over the past six years deportations of criminals are up 80 percent, and that’s why we’re going to keep focusing on threats to our security. ​

Wanting to know what college students would think of this quote and whether Obama was "racist" for wanting to deport illegal aliens convicted of a crime, Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips headed to Georgetown University to find out.

After being told the quote came from “a president,” students offered near-universal condemnation for it, as well as the policy of deporting criminals.



“I think that policy comes from a place of white American nationalism,” one said, before another added, “Donald Trump has embraced this rhetoric of racism and xenophobia that’s not beneficial to our country at all.”

“I don’t think that quote stands true,” another stated.

“It’s just really awful."

After gathering their responses, Phillips played each student the video of Obama’s speech, showing them he was the president the quote belonged to.

“I thought it was the Trump administration that said something like that,” one bewildered student said, while another agreed, saying “I didn’t expect it to be Obama… it never occurred to me that it could be him.”​

“It’s quite surprising. I thought that was from Trump,” another said.​

“My understanding of Obama vs Trump is that Obama was more liberal as far as amnesty… I expected that quote to come from Trump.”

One student said it reminded him how hypocritical many politicians have become: “One person can say something five years ago and next thing you know it doesn’t apply to them anymore and they can now be the morality police for whoever is in office now.”​

 

Actually, if she claimed him as a brother it would have exposed her immigration fraud by claiming to be part of a different family.

 

If I'm following correctly Illhan was a juvenile when she immigrated and became a citizen. Any fraud to that point is on the adults involved not her.

 

#MSM does a great deal of damage to the United States. The amount of lies and misinformation spread for political purposes, especially by the left, is not good for our country.

 

Agreed but wasn't she underage when another family claim her as a member? What is that might have been a reason for exclusion of her and ”the family” during the naturalization process I cannot see the grounds for it now. I can see charging the adults involved.

She may be innocent of the original fraud but not of the subsequent fraud stemming from it.

 

I notice she does the Bill Clinton routine.

She tries to sound genuine and yet she knows how to back out of "got cha" questions.

 

It's easy but it doesn't change their minds really, they already have the culture of hate against someone because they are repeatedly bombarded with fake news and misinformation. The damage has been done.

Wait until Google weighs in on the 2020 campaign and starts throwing out all of it's misinformation. It will be at a level we have never seen.

It's easier to change someone from a positive to a negative viewpoint but much harder to change someone who has a negative viewpoint of an individual to a positive one. This is the negative campaign that is being waged today and it consists of almost entirely fake news and information and fake narratives.

If she entered the United States under a false name, should she be sent back?

For the sake of her American children she shouldn't be deported BUT she should be given the choice of several years in prison or voluntarily giving up HER citizenship.

 

I was going through my grandmother's old magazines that she kept. One of them was an old Time/Life magazine that wrote about T. Kennedy's trial. The tag of the article said:

"Ted Kennedy walked into the courtroom with his arm in a cast, his neck in a brace, and his butt in a sling".

The author was never heard from again (at least professionally).
