Because of long established tradition. And freedom of association.

If somebody's grandfather was a member of the AME for seventy years it is just as important to them as when somebody's grandfather was a member of 1st Baptist for seventy years.

Tradition and family are very important. There are still people who stick to family and tradition. They know the churches have gone crazy but it takes a lot of pulpit shenanigans and heresy for them to leave.

I think you are asking the wrong question.. The style is different but he message remains consistent.

Ya prolly better just to lock those five year olds in a closet or leave them in the car under a hot sun while the parents exercise their right to worship as they like..

There seems to be something wrong with the message the. It's not getting through. Either they aren't communicating or they aren't seen as credible anymore.

So...what did all these black friends of your say when you asked them what they were talking about? I mean...you've had ample time to ask all these black friends you have. What did they say?

Nothing wrong with the message, just people are becoming less interested.. Just because one Church isn't living up to their expectations doesn't mean they haven't 100's of others to explore... I think you are just spicing it up with the race thing is all.

The question could have simply been asked without the Black hook, MPO!
Hope you get the post count you're looking for ;)

You could be right. The Black Hook may have been better. I asked the question because it was from my black friends who were sharing this. I've found out it's not limited to them. And I certainly don't mean ALL churches are bad. But it's a problem when folks are not trusting in the churches. But from what it seems they have reason not to. So the dilema has to be solved inside those institutions.

Nah, those problems are solved by the congregation. If it's the wrong message or format for them then they move on! Or they discuss their concerns with the elder of the church, and if the majority of the people cant foster change then they lose support/funding and fails.. All that aside, they still have 100's of other places to explore IF they are really committed to God and faith..

Some are not and simply like to complain, lots of drama in congregations, as you can see from your BLACK friends ;)

Interesting. And I think a lot of folks do move on to other places. But how does that help the places they've been at? Obviously they aren't getting the message.

Oh I get it. Ministers make up what they want and say it to the members. Well that leads to two things. Folks get lost in the bad information. And then others have sense to know it's not right and lose trust in the messenger.

A bad-smelling mist in the pulpit becomes a foul fog in the pews.

You seem to take it personal. We're just sharing and asking?
