With all the Doomsters, makes us wonder how the human race survived pre EU.

I suggest those that love the EU, pack your bags and go. Take your families and pets. Get out, go and hug Merkel.

No ****, the country is more than 1,000 year old, humanity is at least 300,000 years old and British liberals cannot imagine life without the EU.

O really? Again this bullcrap blabbering of evil liberals etc.? :deadhorse:

That this bad copy of Donald Trump Clown with with a hairstyle like just got out of bed is now British PM is one thing ... also that he lives in same fairy tale world as ever with his statement and empty threat that UK will leave the EU on Ocober 31st with or without deal ... fairy tale and only hot air, because it is not he and his government who decides this, but it is the Parliament (House of Commons) who has only to decide BY BRITISH LAW and that this parliament is not able to decide anything with any majority is still unchanged!

Scotland votes last time to remain in UK only with a small majority, because they wanted to stay in EU. So ... if there will be any new referendum to remain in UK or not, the result is very unsure and it is likely that Scotland makes his own Brexit from UK!

As my Scottish girlfriend said, the EU was never discussed as part of the referendum, it was to do with staying or leaving the UK. So if anyone thinks the EU was part of the Scottish Independence, my girlfriend said, "What a load of ******* bollox, stop putting words into my mouth".

This EU / Scottish Independence fallacy is the propaganda that Wee Jimmy Krankie (Nichola Sturgeon).

Put it this way, she was not impressed by your post and let's just say, you are very very very very mistaken.

As my good friends and neighbors - Scots in origin coming from Hamilton comming - say ... the EU was an important point of the referendum once! And put it this way, they say that many Scots think this way!

Sorry your girlfriend either does not know the truth or is failing to tell it.

The EU was always a strong part of the Referendum debate. In the last week when who were called the three amego's came up from London and told people anything anyone ever could have cherished would be lost if we voted yes, one of the biggest things they were claiming was that there was only one way that people could ensure staying in the EU and that was by voting to stay in the Union. It is believed many people believed that and changed their vote for the Union on it. If your girlfriend said as you say then she knew absolutely nothing about the referendum as the EU and whether Scotland could stay in it was one of the biggest arguments made by the remain to try and get the remain vote.

Apparently, Southern Scotland disagrees. Later today, I will ask my relatives in Edinburgh, Falkirk and Gala.

And when I followed the Scottish Independence debate, I can't honestly recall the EU being brought up.

You may have been influenced by Wee Jimmy Krankie's propaganda post referendum by the sounds of it.

    You claimed
This is not anyone's opinion. You are claiming that one of the biggest issues in the Indyref, one that went on and on throughout the two years never happened. This is about fact, not opinion and what you are saying is wrong.

Not sure why some posters are supporting this Indyref1 EU fallacy. Even the Scottish Government's white paper outlining it's reasons to leave never even mentioned the EU.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotland's_Future

So if the Scottish Government never mentioned the EU, Southern Scotland never discussed the EU, where did this EU fallacy come from?

You are just wasting time. The EU was a major issue throughout the Indyref and one which many people were convinced by the 3 Amigos that the only way they could stay in it was to vote remain. You claimed your girlfriend said it was not even mentioned in the Indyref. Your girlfriend was either being dishonest or did not bother to find anything out. I will remember how you deliberate print things that are not true for the future though I rarely see you make any points, just huffing.

    Rant.
    Rant.
    We shall see.

Even if Scotland leaves - there is no guarantee it gets into EU. Back in the independence poll debates EU made it clear that independent Scotland would need to go through full application process. A country that has no experience running own affairs for 300 years is to be able to maintain a GDP of a highly industrialized country. Did you know that Zimbabwe was a rich country in the past? So was Ukraine. Yet, after gaining independence things got quite a bit different.
Scots leaving could be literally a double-shot in the foot - loss of trading preferences with EU and loss of trading preferences with the U.K.. Trying to maintain high economic output in those conditions for several years could prove to be impossible for Scotland.
In reality I seriously doubt the U.K. would split - any splitting region will face a much worse situation than splitting from EU.

The thing is, they keep spouting this independence rubbish. If you're part of the EU, you are not independent. If they adopt the pound or Euro, they can't set interest rates, they must have their own currency to do that, and as someone pointed out, you can't join the EU dictatorship unless you have the Euro.

Secondly, the money spent in Scotland per head compared to tax claimed per head is some £2,000 more. I can't see any reason why HMRC would lie so unless they raise tax or cut expenditure or a bit of both, they're go the same way as likes of Zimbabwe, Greece etc..

With all these brexiters makes me wonder about the future of the human race.
I suggest those who won the brexit vote should make it happen, but they can't, they have failed, and indulge in operation blame.
You won, get on with it, but you can't, you're failures.

To be honest, I was a bit confused by the last bit, but Parliament need not pass any laws to leave the EU. The UK leaves on Halloween unless it agrees to Mrs May's Withdrawal Agreement ( which is about as likely as it raining beer) or Boris deciding to commit political suicide and asking for an extension.

So come 31 October 2019 it will be good bye Mandelus and thanks for all the Frikadellen

The leave campaign was built around the same type of lies and fear that elected Trump. As with Trump, the government now must deal with the consequences of these irresponsible voters and actors. Boris will not pull the rabbit out of the hat, the UK will suffer greatly upon Brexit, leave voters will end up feeling fleeced, NI will merge with Ireland and Scotland will eventually leave the UK. These are all more likely then any deal promised by Boris or Neal leading up to the referendum. Cameron will end up being the architect of the destruction of the UK and the EU will not know whether to laugh at the UK or cry along with its people. Meanwhile, paellas will still be made in Marbella, pasta will still flow in Milan, beer will be guzzled in Munich, watches will tick tock in Bern and wonderful cheese will still end meals in Lyon.

If I was PM, we would have been out of the EU within 2 seconds of the result. Anyone objecting would have been locked up for being a traitor to the UK.

    Next question.

Last I heart Scotland has its own government.
The UK will not keep its high economic output if it crashes out of the EU. What has Scotland to loose after that. Besides Nothing.
Welsh and NI farmers depend on the EU, 80% of their income is EU financed, crashing out would mean adios to that money and tariffs of up to 40% on what they produce.
Ford, Vauxhall have given warning, crash out and we relocate.
Investment in the car industry has already stoped, because of the uncertainty.
Johnson has only a 1 vote majority, after the Welsh election. He ain't going to last.

It's kind of sad the way some people are being manipulated into believing it is all being done for them..into believing they are the people responsible for destroying the UK elite...nah! it's the usual Hedge Funds..

Hedge funds win big from Brexit bets

The Brexit Short: How Hedge Funds Used Private Polls to Make Millions

Boris, Brexit and the Hedge Funds (Part 1)

Hedge fund managers stand to win millions from Brexit

Big Short investor launches UK fund that bets on a no-deal Brexit

So the people they are using to make this money are people who have felt neglected. Now they believe it is all being done for them, for their 'democracy'. They do not see how they are being manipulated to kick the future for themselves and any kids they have down the road ...all so the elite will win and win big.

They believe it is them...they are doing it...they are running the country and because of this they call those who do not agree 'traitor's' which by the way has resulted in one British MP being murdered and many many more being threatened...but for them...they are getting their own way, they are the stars so nothing else matters. Good plan by the elite and seems to be working.
