Can you provide details about what constitutes an "assault weapon"?

We’re just returning to the Wild West.

    Everything goes in cycles.

We thought we could do better than the 1950’s.

    We were wrong.

The nation of Switzerland. As well as the nation of Norway, as it allowed the sale of the Ruger Mini-14 rifle that was used in the killing of sixty nine individuals.

Now then, once again, when it can be shown which military in the world issues the semi-automatic AR-15 rifle to its troops for use in combat, do be sure to let those present know. Until such time it is not a weapon of war.

TR. You know the so called "Wild West" was just a Hollywood invention. The "Wild West" (post U.S. Civil War until around the Spanish American War) wasn't especially violent. And you can pretty much count all the actual "gunfights" on the fingers on your hands.

Violence has always been concentrated in urban areas.

But you are claiming the reason for mass shootings is the availability of these guns. Therefore based on your “logic” there should be millions of mass shootings, right?

Like they said in, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance":

"This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend".

We live in a country with ~330,000,000 people. Expecting zero of anything that has a possibility greater than zero is an unattainable goal.

The weapons you speak of have been available since (at least) the mid-60s.

Of course it would work if we got back to being parents and more involved in our children's lives preparing them for the real world.

So you would take freedom of speech and expression away from millions of people instead? You are attacking a symptom expecting a cure for the disease. Automobile manufacturers don't have to make cars that go 80 miles an hour either. Will you hold GM accountable if i drive my Chevy into a crowd at high speed?

It is a culture issue. One that has been some 50+ years in the making. Change is inevitable. There is no guarantee it will be for the better. If we have to resort to banning freedoms for the many because of the few what that proves to me is that we are not mature enough or responsible enough to deserve the freedoms we have. Mark the American experiment as failed.

I am far more concerned about automobile accidents and lightning strikes than I am about gun violence.
