Be proud of being white. Whites are amazing people.

Well, not really true, but, be that as it may. White people invented air conditioning, transistors, heavier than air flight, the internal combustion engine, just about everything that makes your life what it is today.

 

Weird how nearly every majority white country is being flooded by brown people. Weird how many white communities across America are being flooded with brown people. Apparently brown people are in love with white people and will go to ridiculous lengths to live next them. Not seeing much flow in the other direction.... Is there something about whites that EVERYBODY wants to live close to them? Is that what you mean by white privilege?

 

Which wouldn't have been possible without all the inventions that came from China & Egypt that happened thousands of years before that. Muslims were advancing math, science and art while Europe was in the dark ages.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. But I'm going to quibble just a bit, from the right rather than the left.

1. While I agree that whites have no reason to feel guilty about anything, we also have no reason to feel proud about anything we did not directly contribute to. I reject both collective guilt and collective pride. I admire and celebrate the achievements of dead white men, Shakespeare, Mozart, Michelangelo, Newton, Washington, but those are not my achievements and I take no pride in them.

2. Our rationalism-based culture is and always has been quite irrational. That's not to say that that makes it any different from every other culture, just that the achievements of science (which I presume you're referring to here) have often had to fight against the irrationality of our culture to be accepted.

3. We don't have just one culture. We have a plethora of cultures, some of which have been quick to adopt new and better ways of living and others of which have been very slow and reluctant to do so.

4. We don't have just one political system, we have and had many, some of which (communism, Naziism) have brought slavery, tyranny, and the complete subjugation of human rights to many places. This is partially why I reject collective pride... if I get to be proud of Washington, I also have to be ashamed of Hitler.

5. If there's something we can be collectively proud of, it would be white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant culture. It is that which has brought liberty, democracy, and human rights to the world. But the interesting thing about culture is that it's not exclusive to white people. White Anglo-Saxon Protestants created it, but anyone can believe in it, adopt it, and live it. As I've noted elsewhere, some of the most vociferous defenders of the culture today are not all white, Anglo-Saxon, or Protestant, and in some cases none of the above. But because culture doesn't care what color your skin is, culture can be much more inclusive than, say, white nationalism. At the same time, identifying the specific culture we're trying to defend keeps us from saying all whites belong to the culture, like Greek socialists or Albanian Muslims or Justin Trudeau. They're white, but they are not part of the white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant culture which has contributed so much to the world today. On the other hand, you've got Dennis Prager (Jewish), Ayaan Hirsi Ali (black atheist), and Dinesh D'Souza (Indian) who are part of the white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant culture today.

The Muslims got all their math from the Byzantines whom they conquered except for the bit they got from the Indians whom they conquered. Algebra was invented by Diophantus centuries before Mohammed launched his campaign of rape and rapine.

Muslims didn't advance art very much at all because they are iconoclasts.

Let's just face it. The white race, while it may have gotten a late start dominates in art and science. It invented the very idea of science. The life you live today is possible because white people invented it.

 

It's very convenient to leave out the hundreds and hundreds of inventions that happened without white people's help. White people didn't really start kicking butt until the 16th century. China's rich history of inventions starts in the Paleolithic period. We would not be as advanced as we are without the earliest days when China got busy making life easier.

You also fail to acknowledge all the black people that were critical to our space program, including black women. Face it; you have a confirmation bias. White people = responsible for all the good things. All other skin tones = useless - only survive due to white people. Lulz.

You are looking at a 200-300 year history of inventions to draw your conclusions. I'm including all that was learned for thousands of years before that. Who created the first tools? Not white guys. First weapons? Not white guys. First transport vehicles? Also not white guys. Clothing, language, written word, alphabet? Again, not the white guys.

I’m glad I’m white. I like white values, culture, etc.

But am I proud to be white? Not really. Like another poster said, I’m white by birth. I didn’t earn it. I have blue eyes. Am I proud of them? No. That’s also something I was born with.

I’m proud of my career, my kids, and my two college degrees. But being white? Not so much.

 

You mention Egypt often. Evidence shows ancient Egyptians were European. There is absolutely zero archeological evidence of any structure in sub Sahara Africa over one story tall. I’m talking back in the pyramid era. Egypt is considered Africa today but obviously was not the case back then. In fact, the Europeans migrated away from Egypt when the sub Saharan Africans started migrating toward Egypt. I dont doubt that Africans worked on the pyramids as laborers or possibly slaves, but Africans were not the architects and engineers, if they were, you would see the same further south.

No, I am looking at 2500 years of white history. Other countries had a little math and a little technology that was discovered because of practical problems. The Greeks were unique in speculating about how the world worked. The Babylonians discovered the Saros cycle because they kept records and noticed the pattern of solar eclipses.

China was more advanced than Europe, it is true. At the beginning of the 15th C. it had a fleet of ships more than adequate to circumnavigate the world. But the Chinese didn't want to explore the world. They were content to stay home and preserve their isolation.

The Europeans had a curiosity about the world. They developed math and science out of curiosity without practical application. Practical application came later, of course.

Europeans had a curiosity about the past and invented archaeology and taught the rest of the world its ancient history of which they were ignorant.

And that is why White people rule.

My parents started with nothing in 1964. My brother and I both payed for our own college, and then tutored Mom through college. Dad never graduated high school, but ran his own construction business and employed dozens of people before he retired. We have never taken a dime of welfare of any kind. What privilege are you talking about?
